And I get by
I'm savin' all my soul
And all my pain
So I can lose control
On Sa-turday
I'm gonna' blow it all away
I can't wait for the weekend to begin
I can't wait for the weekend to begin
(Breakdown)
I can't wait for the weekend to begin
For the weekend to begin
Begin (x13)
I can't wait for the weekend to begin
I got to get my fix
And fly tonight
And when the clock strikes 6
On Fri-day night
I'm gonna' blow it all away
I can't wait for the weekend to begin
I can' I can'
I can't wait for the weekend to begin
I can' I can't
I can't wait for the weekend to begin

Balancing Act

OH MY GOOD SWEET MERCIFUL ZOMBIE JEBUS !
Ok, here's the delio. Not only did I accept a Co-op position yesterday, but today I had TWO requests for an interview with Government jobs. I have accepted both and have a computerized skill test tommorrow for one and aninterview for one on next Wednesday.
It's overwhelming. I had originally agreed to start work at the one I accepted yesterday next week, which I am now biting myself for doing. I would much rather work at these Ministry jobs because they are better paid and more related to my degree ($17.96 an hour vs. $12 an hour). I have now emailed them and told the President, whom I know, that I won't be able to start until May 1st, hopefully buying me some time to see what happens with these other two jobs.
My current employer, Starbucks, just literally called while I was writing this blog, and asked me to remain on as a Supervisor, just working on the weekends, until the end of May. They would appreciate it, because they are already understaffed before I left, and are even moreso now. I have tentitively agreed, but told them that it may change.
The interview/test that I have tommorrow is two hours of multi-tasking testing and typing testing that I have to go through. I really want that job and hope that it all works out.
I never knew that being such a hot labour commodity was such a huge amount of work ! What a balancing act ! But it sure is fun :D
Wow, I'm smart.
I'm brilliant really, and totally modest. What a perfect package ?
No more mood swings for me, I have finally landed a Co-op work term with Gateway File Systems. Unfortunately, due to the nature of a lot of the work I will be doing there, I cannot talk about it until the launch of their new product in May/June. I can say its mostly marketing, design, and training, which I love.
It is a gorgeous, sunny 12 degrees celcius here (for those of you who use Imperial, change, the rest of the world has!) and I cannot wait to go get a pedicure in Vancouver next weekend. Some friends of mine from work are coming. It's an "April-birthday only" event, all three of us have birthdays within 10 days of one another. We'll be spa-ing and shopping till we drop.
I got a weird call from a guy I dated more than a year ago yesterday too. He is one of those people that you like, but kinda gives you an odd vibe, and you don't know why. I'm pretty sure that all he is interested in is sex, which isn't gonna happen, cause I've sworn off men until I am done my degree. I just don't have time for the dating and the constant drain on my bank account that is a significant other. It's a financial decision really, dating wastes money. Well, at least for now that's my motto.
I'm going to "try" and do an assignment today, and then go with my mom to the Chiropractor and to lunch. We'll see if the assignment even gets started. It's just so damn hard to focus when all I wanna do is go and tan. Oh, right, I can't tan with the stupid medication I'm on, it's quite rediculous.
Yes, my summer plans have all fallen into place perfectly. I'm going to start subscibing again to Wallpaper, I used to get them all the time, then I stopped. I need, now more than ever, to start immersing myself in the world of fashion, architecture, design, and travel again.
Though I'm really more of a Versace sort of boy, I simply adore this Gucci ad. I'm mentally prepared for the shopping at Ferragamo, Armani Exchange, and Zara.

Burn This City !

I'm totally out of control ! It's taken me all day to finally wake up, ever have one of those days ? I woke up slowly, went with my Aunt who is visiting from rural Saskatchewan (prairies) to her salon make-over appointment. So much fun. We just had tea and coffee with cake and crumpets as per our family's Sunday tradition. Gotta love the Brits ! Anyways, my Uncle was present at this event, the Uncle whom I have no spoken to in months, because of a huge family feud. I am still very mad at him, but we hugged and kinda made up. It was a healthy start. My two Aunts are still here, we're all having dinner soon. So, finally at late evening, I feel totally energized and AWAKE. I feel like I could take on the entire world ! I am starting my math assignment that is due tommorrow and I am gonna rock it ! I am soo happy to just be me in this moment. I'm jetting off to Vancouver for a shopping/salon/spa three day trip next weekend, and I just want to work my ass off until then ! My life rocks, and I'm gonna rock it good ! LOOK OUT WORLD !
Eyes
Burning a way to me
Eyes
Destroying so sweetly
Now
There is a fire in me
A fire that burns
This fire is out of control
I'm going to burn this city
Burn this city
This this fire is out of control
I'm gonna burn this city
Burn this city
This fire is out of control
This fire is out of control
This fire is out of control
and I burn
Eyes
Boring a way through me
Paralyse
Controlling completely
Now
There is a fire in me
A fire that burns
This fire is out of control
I'm going to burn this city
Burn this city
This fire is out of control
I'm going to burn this city
Burn this city
If this fire is out of control
Then I
I'm out of control and I burn
Oh how i burn for you
Burn, oh how I burn for you
burn
how I burn
how I burn
oh how I
This fire is out of control
I'm gonna burn this city
Burn this city
This fire is out of control
I'm gonna burn this city
Burn this city
This fire is out of control
I'm gonna burn this city
Burn this city
This fire is out of control
I burn
I burn
I burn
I burn

It's not so bad....
Today just seems like the sort of day that will result in many a memborable quote. So far today I have two: (it's just morning still)
- "I can't tell you over the phone, I need my hands to explain."
- "Sure, if you would just step inside my closet."
UPDATE:
Today was a day. I came into work and there was a puddle the size of half the store behind the counter and in the backroom. It turns out, after much research, that the pipe leading out of our store's grease trap was clogged. The place smelled awesome (your sarcasm detector should be beeping). We closed the store for two hours, while the repairmen cleaned out the grease trap, and repaired the leak. It was rediculous.
I stumbled upon this article while trying to find a picture for today. My life is not that bad, comparitively. Articles like this put it all into perspective. They also make me cry. What a great example of the "religion of peace" that Islam claims to be. Then people ask me why I say 'I think religion just interferes in true spirituality'. Sigh, what a world.

Defeated

I feel so very defeated, it's my word of the week. I never got a call from the position I had an interview for, despite the fact that they said I would know by the end of the week. I barely finished my stats assignment in time, and its not going to get a good mark. I am unprepared for the finals that are coming up, and I have no time to study. I feel stretched to the max, defeated, and ultimately a failure. I know it will pass, but it's overwhelming right now. I just don't even know where to begin to get back on track. I'm near the breaking point, and I don't know what to do.

Waiting...

Aaah.
That was a big sigh. I'm waiting for a phone call sometime this week, that may open doors for me and result in a three-fold increase in my stress rate. It would be the most amazing opportunity, and would utilise my skills perfectly, as well as my personality. It would be high energy, fast-paced, almost completely on my own schedule, and amazingly creative. It would also be a huge responsibility, and a massive amount of work. It boggles the mind how much work it could be. But I'm just focusing on the good right now ;)
Anyways, waiting is amazingly painful. I was told I would hear back from them before the end of the week, but that it wouldn't take them very long to make a decision. That was Monday afternoon. I was, secretly, hoping for a phone call yesterday. Alas, it never came, but I was silly to expect them to get back to me that fast. It's now the middle of the week, and two days later, and I am seriously jumping every time the phone rings.
It's a conspiracy. I bet people and organisations already know whether or not they want you days before they call you. They make you wait to see whether or not you can stand the constant heart-rushed and palpitations whenever the phone rings. To stress you out, and make you sit in limbo for as long as possible.
It's even made worse by my particular situation. I want to give my current employer two weeks notice as per the professional thing to do, even though legally I am not bound to do so. If I don't know by today or tommorrow, I may have a week where I am employed by both groups, and that would just suck. It's such a dilemna.
I haven't lost faith though, I know this position is perfect for me. It came to me the way that it did because I am meant for it, and because the universe wants it for me. I just wish I could have confirmation and get this thing going already. I can't wait until I can do the job, so just call me already ! Gawd.

10. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 6 (f) 1
Now add up the total number of points.
OVER 60 POINTS: Others see you as someone they should "handle with care." You're seen as vain, self-centered, and extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.
51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate.
41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out.
31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust In your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.
21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.
UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.

Why would you do that to me ??
Sunday nights are usually my restful, relaxation nights. I sit down with a cup 'o tea and a good novel and read for an hour until 9pm, when Desperate Housewives comes on, then I watch Grey's Anatomy and go to bed.
Not so much this Sunday. First of all, Desperate Housewives was an amalgamation of horrible, unrealistic and annoying events. I am soo pissed off with the son, Andrew Van de Kamp, who is simply the most retched human being on the planet. Not only has he clearly driven his mother to the verge of a drinking problem, but he is bordering on mentally abusing her. That just pissed me off so much I wanted to turn off the TV. Then, the rest of the show was a complete bore, interspersed with an another tragedy for Susan Meyer with her doctor/jerk of a boyfriend. She deserves better. And, of course, then there was the stereotypical attempt at addressing a political issue with the woman hired at Lynette's firm who still breastfead her 5 year-old child. Not only was that disguisting, but it sucked as any sort of plot-line.
After all this, I was overwhelmingly excited to finally see Meredith. Grey's Anatomy never disappoints, it always has a rich plot line, with a perfect sprinkling of sarcastic wit and humour, and a touch of sexual tension. The perfect combo for any episode. I think it is the epitome of prime-time television.
So after all the wait and excitement, guess what ? It turns out to be a rerun from the freaking beginning of the season ! Why, praytell, would you give me a rerun in the middle of a new season ? WHYYYYY ??!!
I'm soo upset, it has ruined the start of my week.

Perfect Balance

I am sooo amazingly, awesomely, fantabulously happy today. Today rocks. It feels like my life has come into a perfect equilibrium and balance has been reached.
It all started this morning with yoga, I'm getting much better at is, and I am really starting to enjoy it. Then, I came home and got an email that contained good news about my secret (see previous post). I was getting all depressed about the lack of postings for new jobs on the Co-op webpage, and then BAM today there are craploads. Two of which are with Ministries. One is with the Ministry of Advanced Education and is for an economic research position. HELLO ! It's the first posting for someone in only second year of Economics ! It's practically got my name written all over it. It's kinda humerous how the day after such a crummy day as yesterday could be so awesome and full of joy. Life rocks once again. I'm also on my fourth, yes (4th), cup of coffee, so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm even studying Multivariable Calculus and the Simplex Method and I'm finding it kinda fun. Let my tell you something though, calling a method the "Simplex Method" sure makes it sound a hell of a lot easier than it actually is. I wonder if there is a group of people somewhere who market these names for mathematical methods to make them sounds easier or more fun than they actually are ? Ok, I've totally rambled now. But I honestly don't care :P

I don't wanna talk about it.
I'm not feeling that great today, I'm overcome with negativity and strong self-loathing. Everything seems to be going wrong today, and in my life. I can't find anyone to cover a shift for me on my mom's birthday, I haven't gotten a single interview, and I just feel really down. It feels like not only today, but in general, my plans are falling apart. My plan for the summer was a Co-op position, that's not happening, there is time left, but why bother ? It's not like anyone has even wanted to interview me, let alone give me a job. I applied at a bank, also haven't heard from them. I feel overwhelmingly rejected, as though the support that I have always felt from the universe has been swept away. I've always believed that there is a guiding force, and to just trust. I feel as though that force has abandoned me. I can't stand school anymore, I should be studying for a midterm but I don't care, so I'm not. I kinda just wanna die.

The Hunt Continues ...
Update on my Co-op hunting status:
There is the most perfect position in the world open right now, it closes in 2 days, and not a single person has applied for it yet !
It's in Cambell River, which is VERY remote and an insanely long drive from where I am. I don't mind that so much, because my mom knows someone there who has a friend who could rent me there basement suite. The position itself is amazing, its a Research Assistant with the Vancouver Island Health Authority, working with their study on aboriginal health issues. You have to have database experience, good analytical skills, and able to work as a team member. I am swimming in these and other skills.
So, whats the problem you ask... glad ya did ! ;)
See, my mom is finishing her Master's degree in Applied Communication, and therefore she needs me from time to time to babysit my 9 year-old brother. She plans on working full-time when she graduates, and therefore she will need me to babysit a lot for July and August when school is out for him. This means that if I move she would have to hire a full-time babysitter, or else have him stay with other family a lot, which isn't very healthy for him, and is also kinda expensive. Yes, I know that was a run-on sentence. So for that reason, I don't think I can move this summer for a position. It would be fine if the position was in September, because my brother would have school, and in fact, I plan on being a little more aggressive in looking for a September internship, cause then I would be able to move for 4 months.
It's just soo annoying that I have these responsibilities that are taking me away from what could be a great opportunity for me build experience towards a career. It makes me mad, but I also would feel mean and selfish if I told my mom I was applying anyways, and would leave if I got it. This sort of situation happens to me a lot. I'll get over it. It's just too bad.

My Beautiful Face !!!
I'm just full of good luck this week. I rushed to my esthetician to get my brows waxed before my interview yesterday, which I turned down anyways. Long story short, the job was dumb. Anyways, so I went to go see her, and she warned me that my brows might be a little "inflamed" because of the acne medication I'm on (Accutane). Today I wake up, and it looks horrid. I have been told I have burnt the epidermis of my skin, and that it could "possibly scar", the scariest two words in the english language. Here are some gruesome images for you:
Also, I look dazed because I just got out of my shower.

Woot

I got an interview !
I got an interview !
WEEEEEEEEEEE !
As you can prolly tell, I got an interview with one of the companies I applied for a Co-op position at. The company is West Corporation, and they are only about 10 min drive from my house, woot !
Anyways, the annoying thing is that they are my fall-back job, because I would much rather work with one of the Ministries, but alas, this would be acceptable. They are my first interview, and so I might have to accept a job offer from them before I even hear back from my other jobs, which is annoying. Damn timing! Anyways, it seems like a perfectly fine job, so I think I'll be fine, it's a good start. They have an "info" session that I have to go to tommorrow morning and then my interview is at 11:20am, which means I have to miss one class, and I'll be late for another one, but meh. It's just Stats and Calculus, whatever.
The point is, I might ACTUALLY have a Co-op position this summer, how fabulous !
UPDATE :
After the "info" session, I went to my interview and told them thank you, but I was not interested in the job, its not much better pay, and its a call centre. Ew.

It (hopefully) begins...
Not as dramatic of a title as it could have been. I had my last Co-op workshop today. We had a guest speaker from the BC Ministry of Advanced Education. He was clearly nervous at the beginning but as we asked questions it softened him up and he clearly became a lot more comfortable. It was an intense two hours of us sucking him dry of any information he had that we could use to our advantage. The government here accounts for about 60% of all Co-op placements, so you can understand our enthusiasm, plus Co-op is fairly competitive. fairly being an understatement. He also said that most of the senior managers and advisors in the government are expected to be retiring in the next 5-8 years, and that now is the best time ever to try to get into government work. I want to work all my four Co-op placements with the government if I can, because I want to work for them once I'm done my degree. All the jobs that I have applied to, I've told them this on the cover letter. I'm totally excited about my prospects and I applied to two more postings today, and plan on applying to another tommorrow. That will bring the number I have applied for to six, but I have yet to get an interview. Well, they haven't even closed yet so I shouldn't worry.
On another note, I went into work today to get a coffee and my new schedule. Steph was closing for the first time with Anthony, who isn't the hardest worker or best closer, but meh. There was something off about Steph, I couldn't place my finger on it, but I think something was bothering her. Anyways, maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Aren't you suppose to rest on Sundays ?

Ok, so I decided a long tittle while ago that I needed to take every Sunday off from work. This worked well, as then I could concentrate on schoolwork and other stuff that never gets done during the week. I essentially bought myself some more catch-up time, cause I'm always just catching-up to what I'm suppose to be doing.
Well, today I realised that I never actually rest or relax on Sunday, except tonight when I will take 2 hours to myself and watch Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. In fact, Sundays have quickly become one of my busiest days of the week, right after Monday. I generally have school for about 8 hours on Monday, and then I go to work for 6 hours, so Mondays win.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining at all, it's just interesting to note that this has happened. For example, today, I need to apply for two Co-op postitions, email one of my instructors about something, start and complete an entire Calculus assignmnet, and drive 45 mins to school to complete a Statistical Economics assignment.
This being said, I'm also one of those people that hates being lazy or inefficient, so keeping constantly busy like this seems to be a sick way that I ensure I am always running at maximum efficiency. Anyways, I had better get going and make some coffee, mmmm coffee. I am soo totally addicted, but that's a whole other post.
P.S. That graph is of the basic first-year theory of Allocative Efficiency in Economics, seemed relevant.

Emotional Morning
Today was good, but my morning was like something stright out of a TV sitcom:
I wake up and its snowing, it NEVER snows here. I hate snow sooo much, it represents cold, and cold is evil, it can kill you.
My car was running on fumes this morning, so I stopped at the Chevron on my way to school. I was already running late for my 8:30am class, but I didn't have enough to get me to UVic. I pulled up to a ... what do you call them ? stall ? ok, well lets call it a "gas stall", anyways, I pulled up to the "gas stall" and got my credit card handy. Right before I put it in, the "gas pumping machine" starts talking to me, I must have jumped at least 5 feet into the air. Don't talk to me if your an innatimate object at freaking 8am!!
Anyways, it's the man inside the gas station telling me that the pump is not working today. So I get back into my car and turn around to get into another stall-thingy; this old lady in a new red Toyoto Cambry ( I hate Toyotas with a passion, I'm a proud Honda-er) speeds up and pulls right into the stall before me. I was sooo fuming mad I almost hit her car out of spite.
So by now there is a big line-up forming for these "stalls". I finally get one, and pull up, when I go to undo my gas-hole-lid-thingy (I apparently don't have a high gasoline-related vocabulary), I realise that I had already undid it at the first stall and that I must've put it on the trunk like I always do. So, its missing. At this point I was ready to sit down and cry. Luckily, the gas station manager comes out, he introduced himself and said that he had noticed my predicament (a.k.a. they were watching me inside and laughing), and that he had found the gas-hole-lid-thingy on his walk to my car. I was soo thankful, then he gave me a coupon for $5 in gas because he saw that lady steal my "gas stall". My eyes actually got teary. I thanked him, inserted my credit card and pumped away (that sentence sounded dirty), I decided that I would use the card later to just top off the tank, but I wanted to get a full tank right now.
Just as I am leaving Sidney and am too far away to turn back and have any hope of ever making it to class anywhere near on-time I realise I forgot the gas-coupon-card-thingy on top of the pump. Normally, this would've sent me into a little bit of a swearing rampage. I was oddly calm. The manager had been soo nice and thoughtful that I decided it was the thought that counted and that I really didn't care that I can't use it, but I do care that he gave it to me. This sounds really bad, but I am just not used to members of the public treating me with any respect. I'm just used to serving them at work, or just seeing them on the streets. It was soo heart-warming to think that I could screw up soo much at something and someone didn't want to yell at me for it, they wanted to make me feel better. Then I cried, while driving in the snow at 8am to my calculus class.

Study, meh I'll watch TV
hehe. So I'm watching Voyager right now. If anyone reading this knows the show, its the episode with the Krenem, the ones with the huge ship that changes the space-time continuum. It's such a good two-part episode, with soo many ethical arguments.
Anyways, so I have a Public Finance course tommorrow. Meh, It's not too hard of a course, I can prolly get a fairly good mark with what little studying I have done. I am going to study a bit more, and then get up at 6:45am, ARGH.
Work is getting weird. Tara, another supervisor, is prolly going to quit, leaving us even more short-staffed. It's all because of our stupid Assistant Manager, he is incompetent and foolish. It's unfortunate how one person can completely disrupt and destroy a group of functioning individuals. Anyways, so I might have a Co-op position this summer. I'm not getting my hopes up, so I'm not talking about it, but it might go through. The thing is, do I want it ?

Are You Kidding Me !?

Picture this, me happily sleeping away, drooling a little out of the side of my mouth.
then, WHAM !
My cell phone starts blaring "Take Me Out"; and of course I'm cursing the fact that my phone was even left on overnight, let alone the fact that someone has the ordassity to call me at 6am on Sunday.
Guess who it was ?
That's right ! Work !
I didn't answer the phone, but had a god-awful time trying to get back to sleep. I think I dreamt about dancing to that song actually, hrm.. yeah, I'm sure I was dancing to it in my dream later.
Anyways, I called back later at a more reasonable hour (10am), to see what all the fuss was about. Apparently, our manager never bothered to schedule a third person to come in at 7am. This is not a good thing, because that person needs to help them prepare for the morning rushes. More importantly, without the third person on, no one can take a break, because it's rediculous to leave one employee alone on the floor at Starbucks, its just a dumb idea, and also against policy.
Anyways, so I said "ummm....no" in a voice that clearly indicated that I wanted to tell them where they could shove something. If it wasn't for the fact that one of my favourite people to work with was the one calling I would have been much meaner.
Besides that glorious start to my day, it's been good so far. I'm still working on multi-variable calculus, because the assignment is harder than I thought it would be. It's gonne be a good day.

Much Better
I feel a million times better today. I feel like I could conquer the world today. So, I have been! I went out and got more Accutane, bought some awesome bagels and organic cream cheese for breakfast. I'm half-way done my math assignment, and I even emailed the professor because I think there is a mistake on it. She put two equations on the assignment that kinda make no sense. I'm going to work on my scholarship application now for a mental break. Today rocks !
I have also rediscovered my obsession with World War II propoganda posters, they just make you feel so gung-ho, I want one for my room.

Silence
OMG, I've been soo busy the last couple of days, it's been rediculous.
I had the worst day in history at work today. I was yelled at by two customers, one of whom was a regular. They were both the meanest, nastiest people I've had to deal with in almost 4 years working in customer service. It was rediculous !
I'm applying for a scholarship tommorrow, well today technically since it's past midnight here. I need to go to bed and read my book and fall asleep. Also, tommorrow I am starting and completing (in the same day, hopefully :D) a huge Math 103 assignment. It's my last math class ever that I will have to take, but I have to get a really good mark in it. Also, I have to study for a midterm coming up in my public finance class. Gee golly gosh, I should get to bed, I'm soo excited about having a weekend off from work, to just go and work on school, weee ! I'm such a dork !
I think I will apply for another Co-op postition with the Ministry of the Environment, they have an opening for a research assistant. I am also considering applying to work at a company out here called West Corporation, they are worldwide, and are a call center. The one here deals mostly with Sprint and Singular cellular customers from the USA. I might be able to do a C-op position with them, I'm totally overqualified for the work, but it pays well. I could also just tell them I'm taking a break from school and I wanna work full-time for a bit, and then leave in 4 months saying I've changed my mind. Ha, they would prolly hate me. Meh, I want a reference, so maybe I'll be upfront from the get-go, so as to not leave a bad impression. Then again, people can change their minds. hehe.

Always the Skeptic

Well, I haven't been blogging much because I've been uber busy working on applying for Co-op positions. In the midst of it all, I got a job offering from a company. So, I say to myself, what's the catch ?
Well, the company is based in Nashville, Tennesee; It's called Southwestern and they publish children's learning books, CD's, high school study guides and much more. Now, I was kind of skeptical at first, because you have to relocate for the entire summer, and you are selling books, but its a very renowned company. There are Senators that worked for them in they're youth, that and other things made me feel more confident. I went to a "Corporate Spotlight" today, it was a great lunch at a really nice restaurant. There is an intense 4 interview process, they don't so much want you to have experience with sales or anything, but they want to make sure you have the right personality.
I appreciated that the woman hosting it was honest too. She said its a great opportunity for the summer, and the money is amazing, but the work is hard. Their summer interns work about 60-80 hours a week. There also is no guaranteed salary, you earn commission, nothing else, so if you don't sell anything, you get nothing. The sales experience looks amazing, and they often promote people the area sales managers for next summer if you want to return.
They are supported by UVic's Co-op program and the university's Co-op co-ordinator told me she knows many students who worked with Southwestern in the summer, and she hasn't ever heard any complaints beyond it being hard work.
I am intrigued and therefore have started they're rigurous interview process. The recruiter said that they will have to chose 40 people from Victoria from about 400 applicants. Therefore, she said, we shouldn't be disappointed if we are rejected.
Anyways, I'm off to go work on an online assignment, and then maybe read before bed. Argh, I have an 8:30am class tommorrow. How inhumane.
UPDATE:
I didn't go through with the interview process, who wants to sell books all summer long ??

What the Hell is falling from the sky ?
So, it's bloody cold here. I live on the West Coast of Canada, we don't get temperatures below 0 celcius. Well, not normally.
It's snowing, yes, that's right, snowing. Not the pussy, timid, almost-rain sort of snow we sometimes get, but actual gigantic monolithic-sized flakes of doom.
It's sooo cold, I ran (and by ran, I mean drove) to Starbucks to get a latte and dropped off a rented DVD, and after only 20 minutes or so of exposure, my limbs are almost numb.
The Weather Channel says its -2 with the wind-chill. AAAH !
I'm gonna go and turn on the fireplace, sit infront of it, and work on my application for a summer Co-op term. Ah, how I envie summer.

Welcome to the Customer Relations Department

Ok, so you all know and love me, but now I want you to tell me what you really think of me. Please fill in a Johari Window for me. It's a tool created in the 1950's for self-reflection, and I'm excited to find out exactly what mine will look like.
This feels a bit like the How are we doing ? cards they have at stores, or the customer comment cards that I have at work. I want you all to be completely truthful !
Seriously, I won't be hurt at all, so be truthful, since this is an exercise is self-discovery. If you want to, and I would encourage you to, do a Nohari Window, which is the same, only its all negative words.
Thanx to whomever does this :D
Also, Thanx to QatarCat for the idea ;)

Trapped in the 90's

Today I had to drop off my brother at school, because my mom got called into work at the Inn (She works as a front desk manager part-time) for the early shift, which she never does, in order to cover some sick woman. Therefore, I had to get my lazy butt out of bed at like 7am this morning, which was evil considering I worked until late last night and the fact I have Reading Break this week, so I should be allowed to sleep in.
So, while I'm driving my brother to school, I'm trying to find a channel on the radio that I like. I should explain that I have XM Satellite Radio in my car, so I have a choice of about 100 channels, and they are all theme-based. I tried the Top 20 channel, nope don't like rap. Then tried Channel 22, which is also modern hits, nope, not in the mood for Linkin Park. I went through about 10 channels, before I at last admitted what I've been fearing is true for the past little while. The only channel that I can be guaranteed to never have to change and that I will almost always like the music on, is the 90's hits channel.
Great, its a fact, I'm stuck in the 90's.

This conclusion makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. I've always had a thing for the Star Trek episodes from the 90's, particulary Deep Space Nine and Voyager, but also The Next Generation. I love the 90's sort of optomistic view of the world, and the fabulous, toned-down 80's-style attire. I love the big hair of the early 90's and the female power-suit-wearing executives of that era. I miss great one-hit bands like Chumbawumba, and longer-lasting wonders like The Backstreet Boys and Brittany Spears (before she was a slut). I miss the real right of free speech that existed then, and the idea that the world was moving ethically forward, not backwards like the last couple years. I see the beginning of the 21st Century as a step back on what we accomplished, socially, in the 90's.
I miss the TV of the 90's (besides Star Trek, which I already talked about), like the Golden Girls, Full House, The X Files, and other non-reality shows. I am soo sick of reality TV, ok so it was really cool at first, and I will always be a sucker for The Apprentice, but who cares about most of it now. The Bachelor, America's Next Top Model, Switching Spouses, and other rediculously dumb or past-their time shows such as Survivor, need to be put down. All that they do is fill the void in our hearts from shows that showed us what the perfect family could be like. Shows that taught us lessons, like Family Matters. I think the only reality TV should be that which existed before Survivor, like Wheel of Fortune, that was a great show, or Celebrity Squares.

What about the movies ? Gawd, the movies from the 90's were good. I mean it was the decade of The First Wives club, Miss Congeniality, American Beauty, BraveHeart, Dances with Wolves, Forest Gump, The Matrix, Schindler's List, Silence of the Lambs, Titanic, and Pulp Fiction ! I think it can be said, with no reasonable objection, that overall, the movies of the 90's were the best of any decade.
Anyways, I'm most definately stuck in the 90's, but aren't we all ? Who doesn't miss the optomism of the future that existed then ? Who doesn't miss the great, albeit cheesy, family shows ? Who doesn't miss the great styles and the fabulous fashion of the time ?
Remember bigger is always better !

Grey's Anatomy
-Meredith from Grey's Anatomy
This guy named Michael has been contacting me a lot recently. He's in town for his University's reading break, which happens to coincide with mine. So we both have a week off. I went on two dates with him, last summer I believe, when he used to go to Uvic as well. Hrm, I don't know if we should hang again though. It's all so confusing, he's one of those people that is hard to read, but really cute, so you hope the best. haha, I sooo over-analyse things.

I have Power !
Yay,
So after that stupid storm last night knocked off our power at like 11pm, I ahve been in a bubble of isolation. I couldn't write about on my blog, because no internet, I couldn't watch TV, or have a hot shower, or read a book, or even make some tea. I ended up playing a computer game on my laptop, but the game had power-draining graphics and so I had to end it early cause my battery was dying. ARGH.
Anyways, the power is back now, I have to reset my clock from its blinking "12:00", or maybe I'll be lazy and leave it like that. I have to have bloodwork done today for the Accutane, I hate having my blood drawn, its such a weird experience. Well, I don't ate it, I mostly dislike it, what I hate is not being able to eat for 12 hours beforehand. I'm STARVING.
Anyways, then it's off to run some errands, do some banking, and go to work from 4pm-midnight. I get to work with Steph, which is awesome potatoes! Hrm, this is the most boring blog entry I think I have ever written. If you read this and yawn, I won't blame you.

Kinda miss it.
Just thought I would share some of the things they are building in Dubai right now. Thanks to Qatarcat for the inspiration.
Two of these had been started when I left, but none of them had been finished while I was there. I seriously miss aspects of living there, but I also remember hating aspects of living there. Namely the racism, the social problems and the sandstorms.
Nevertheless, I've decided that when I'm done my degree I'm going to get a contract and move back there.
UPDATE:
It's suppose to be -14c with the wind chill here tommorrow. There are wind warnings for tonight, and I'm suppose to expect to loose power. I hat winter, this just provides more motivation. I need to go somewhere warm. GAWD, its cold out.

V. Day = stupid

Hrm, So I'm most definately hungover this morning. But I wasn't really drunk last night. weird.
So, to spite V. Day and all of its evil connentations, I went out with Steph and some fabulous friends of Steph's, except one guy that nobody knew, I think his name was Michael or something (maybe Jonathan), he was a BORE, so introverted, I hate introverted people. Anyways, We went to Ferris' Oyster Bar & Grill. It was great food, huge portions (they were like American sized) and fabulous drinks. "We" was myself and a bunch of fabulous friends of Steph's, except one guy that nobody knew, I think his name was Michael or something (maybe Jonathan), he was a BORE, so introverted, I hate introverted people. Meaghan (Steph's friend) and I shared a pitcher of Margeritas, mmmm, as well as other drinks...
So, about half-way through the night, I realise that I'm on medication that damages your liver, so your not suppose to have ANY alcohol while on it. Hrmm, woopsie. Since I had been drinking for quite some time, I figured I might as well just stick to it and keep on drinking. I believe that is why I feel soo oddly hungover today. My head hurts, and my stomach is none too happy.
We went to this bar/club last night called Hugo's. It was the worst decision ever. The server bitch was just that, a bitch. The guys were ALL ugly. And as Meaghan pointed out, almost all the bar was men, and not a single non-unfortunate one among them. The depression truly sunk in when we all realised that the hot men weren't there because this is all that is left of the single-male spawning pool, all the fish that are too ugly or dumb to have been caught yet. Lemme tell ya, that was not the happiest moment of my life. Although, I must say that hanging out with some great people and going out was a wonderful idea, and the fact that it was yet another V. Day of singleness aside, I had loads of fun.
I drove home, also prolly not a good idea, and I collapsed on my bed. I think got my laptop and proceded to just chat randomly on messenger. It was about then that I realised, at just after midnight on V. Day, that I was completely alone and surrounded by ugly single men. And besides our group, most of the single women were pretty ugly too.
*sigh* whatever, single life rocks, just not one day of the year. But we rocked that day anyways !

Undergrads is back !

One of my favourite shows in Animated history is back !
For those of you who have spent your entire lives under a rock of self-induced boredom, I'm talking about Undergrads! It's an animated show following the lifes of some undergrad students living in univeristy dorms. Soo funny, also very politically incorrect at times. Scarily truthful though. This entire episode is about one character's quest to get into a bar to get this girl he loves, since its set in the US (with their stupid 21 drinking age), and he needs to pretend he knows what he's doing.
Omg, then he roomate is hilarious, he tries and help him, but he's a drunken idiotic fool, and ends up walking away saying "I have no idea what I'm doing, seeya Guy, I'm off for my afternoon sex."
And then he has to teach his other friend, who is quitting drinking, to learn how to consume beverages that aren't made up of alcohol:
"What the hell is this stuff, its bland and nasty !"
"It's called water."
"waaaattteeerr ?"
"yes"
Anyways, It's prolly one of those things that you need to be watching it to fully understand the humour. I felt like sharing that.
I am Zombie Jesus!

Mind Wandering
So, here I am, watching Desperate Housewives. The SECOND best show in the world. Grey's Anatomy being the best, naturally.
Anyways, so this is a pointless rant. I rather enjoy these. I've been thinking a lot about my life today, about where I am, what am I doing. I agree with myself, that I have taken the best road, and (for the most part) made the best decisions. However, I also am disappointed with myself for sometimes being a little lazy. I sometimes think that I could try harder at school, and I could try harder at finding the perfect person, and I could try to enjoy life more.
I think that this all coincides with my turning 20. Yes, for most people that is a young age, but there are millionares and successful business tycoons who had already launched they're careers at that age. I'm nowhere near that sort of career-launching capacity right now, I can barely get out of bed to study on Sundays !
I think that the whole finding the "perfect person" thing can be put on ice right now. I'm realistic, I can focus on the rest of my life first, and hopefully that will fall into place at some later time. Or not, its not as if I've always subscribed to the notion of every person having a soulmate, its just not something I really believe, although I most certainly still believe in love.
The point is, there are a lot of things I want for myself, and things I want to accomplish in my life, and I'm not sure I'm moving fast enough in order to do these things.
Wait ! Am I being skin-deep ? Selfish ? Should I devote myself to tireless volunteer work and endevour to make the world a better place? Hrm, yes and no.
Anyways, I can't wait to start off my ACTUAL career, then I won't mind working 60 hours a week, or even 70.
Wait. But isn't my studying intensely right now a huge factor in my payoff in the end? Isn't it a little ironic to say I'll work harder when the stakes are higher ? I need to be putting 110% into every little assignment, test, project and lab that I do TODAY. No better way to improve your probability of a good outcome tommorrow, than to work your ass off right now !
I love it when I just let my mind wander, I come to the best realisations. This was just what I needed, I was losing momentum, and now I have it back !
Now, if you will excuse me, I'm off to go and study.

Only 6 months to go !

Ok, so here's the deets:
I wake up this morning and get in the shower, afterwards my mom tells me that work called. hrm, odd, I'm already working a full 8 hours today, they can't be calling me in early, so what do they want ?
I call them back, and lo-and-behold, Lindsay, my other closer, has called in sick. Huh, bet she's just hungover, meh. Oh, but now I am short staffed for about 4 hours tonight. greeeat. So, essentially work has called to just let me know that I am royally screwed tonight, cause no one is availlable to cover. Why can't they just tell me that when I get to work, so I don't know until then ?? Cause frankly, I don't give much of a rat's behind that they are "working" on it, and it ruins my morning.
Also, I had taken a day off next week because I had a midterm the next day that I had to study for, my manager forgot or didn't realise that I had requested that day off, and scheduled me to work anyways. Well, guess what ?? It's happened again. I asked for Feb 25 off, because my mom is going out with one of her best friends (Shari) that day to celebrate Shari's birthday. I got sceduled to work anyways. Weeee !
I got into the Co-op program at Uvic, as many of you are aware, so I'm planning on doing my first workterm in Sept. This means I will have to either demote myself and work only part-time at Starbucks, while I work 9-5 at a nice degree-related career job; Or I get to quit Starbucks forever.
I'm leaning a LOT more towards the latter of the two options. I am just fed up of working somewhere that I'm paid peanuts to do not only my job but a lot of other manager's jobs too. THEN, whenever I ask for days off I'm seen as being lazy, because I only work 25hrs/week since I'm a full-time University student, or I'm just not given them, because the manager's above me are incompetent.
I'm soooo quitting in 6 months....
Only 6 months away....
6 months....

I'm BAAAAAK !
Holla !
So my blog is back, yay !
The stupid republishing process has some bugs and randomly it messes severly with blog templates, thats why my blog was sooo fucked up for the last couple of days. I think it was a sign from the gods that I needed some time away from distractions, so I could focus on my school work.
Speaking of which, I Just did the most rediculously hard Econ 246 midterm, that class is soo freaking confusing sometimes, however, it wasn't as bad as I feared it was going to be.
SO.... since I have only one more midterm and Reading Break is soooo close, I decided to have a fun day ! I bought new Club Monaco jeans and a hawt new sweater from RW&Co. Look out Stacy and Clinton, I'm the new fashion police ! (from What not to Wear on TLC)
So yeah, Weee !
And the man tries to get your business
And the people that you meet
Want to open you up like Christmas
You gotta wrap your fuzzy in a big red bow
Ain't no sum bitch gonna treat me like a ho
I'm a classy honey kissy huggy lovey dovey ghetto princess
Cuz you're filthy Oooh, and I'm gorgeous:
You're disgusting Oooh, and you're nasty
And you can grab me oooh, cuz you're nasty
When you're runnin' from a trick
And you trip on a hit of acid
You gotta work for the man
But your biggest moneymakers' flaccid
You gotta keep your shit together
With your feet on the ground
There ain't noone gonna listen
If you haven't made a sound
You're an acid junkie college flunky dirty puppy daddy bastard
Cuz you're filthy Oooh, and I'm gorgeous:
You're disgusting Oooh, and you're nasty
And you can grab me oooh, cuz you're nasty

I kinda miss Dubai
While I've been procrastinating doing three gigantic assignments that are due tommorrow, I've been checking out blogs. I've discovered a whole bunch of one's from people living in the Middle East in countries that I've been to, It's really fun. This one is from Qatar, a small country that I went with my school on a soccer trip to. Twas fun, anyways, I must share this excerpt about the cold weather, maybe now people will believe me when I say its bloody cold here ! (compared to what I'm was used to)
From QatarCat :
It's so cold outside now.. I don't do cold. I whither, shrivel and suffer. Today when I got in the car the thermometer blinked +15 C° at me. This is inhumane and cruel. Then again, my mom told me that it’s -31 C° where she’s at. No comment. For those who prefer Fahrenheit, I can say only that +15 C° is cold but you can live, but -31 C° is when your nose, fingers and toes fall off and then you die.
Also, she wrote this about a day at work, which made me laugh VERY hard:
I got a laugh of a lifetime today, in the elevator. I pushed the button, waited for about a minute, the elevator arrived, I got in. I was alone. I pressed the button for my floor, doors closed, elevator started moving. Suddenly I heard heavy breathing and then someone said “Uhh, hello. Good morning”. Honestly, I almost wet my pants. But a good mannered girl that I am, in about few seconds when I got to my senses I said “Good morning”. I knew I was alone in the elevator, but I didn’t look around. Then the voice asked “Do you know me?” Ok now THAT was stupid and not scary at all. Besides, by that time I realised that the voice was coming from the speaker. Therefore it must have been some bored security guard in a CCTV control room. And I have a pretty good idea which one! So I answered back “No, do you??” and banged on the speaker/mike with my car keys. I walked out followed by the idiot’s howling. The moral of the story – when you do pranks like that, make sure you don’t use a headset.
Anyways, so this is what I do to distract myself from the fact that I'm up to my ears in school work and also to forget that I work in less that two hours, ARGH.
ALSO, I figured out my New Year's resolutions using a handy little online website. Sounds like we can expect this year to be exciting ! :D
2) Eat more chocolate syrup
3) Travel to Australia
4) Study taxidermy
5) Get in shape with ballet

The United States of Canada
Well, now we have a conservative government. It sure was nice to have political and ethical freedom for minorities while it lasted. It's funny how the west, where I live, is celebrating that we have a western PM for once. Greeeat, One who has no respect for women's rights to choose, and for minority rights to be treated as equals of the general population. I'm soo sick of North America, Europe is so much more advanced in terms of social equity. I miss the European way of life too, everything is too big, too loud, and too fast here. Stupid Americans are taking over the entire freaking continent. Well, we all had better start learning the words to the "Star-Spangled Banner", since it seems we will be singing that anthemn eventually.

It's a Baby Girl !

I have a car, her name is Ayame !!
It's soo freaking exciting. No more commuting to Uvic by bus. No more smelling ugly people sitting next to me. No more stupid, angry transit employees. No more missing busses and waiting at stops in pouring rain for the next transfer in like 30 mins.
Glorious Internal Combustion Engine to call my own !
The person with the brand new car is my mom. She has a new black 2006 Honda Civic sedan. It's gorgeous, efficient and comfortably sleek. As a result, I now own my mom's old car, a metallic-beige 1992 Honda Accord. Since it's now new to me, I decided that renaming the car would be perfectly appropriate. I decided on Ayame, which is Japanese for Iris (the flower). I love the name because it respects her Japanese heritage, but is also sleek and meaningful, since Irises are a bit of a family emblem. It's also wonderfully gorgeous.
The only thing I need to do with it is install a new CD or MP3 player. Who listens to tapes anyways ? I also need to clean it out. I bought sleek new black floor mats to replace the worn-out carpet ones. I'm gonna give the car a deep-clean in like a week when I have time from school.
YAY, I can now commute in style !

Co-op !

I got into the Co-op program throught Uvic ! I'm totally stoked. It lets me work in fields related to my actual area of study, in supplement to my Uvic courses. I get credits for each work term, and I get paid by the employer for them ! Each work term is 4 months, the length of a normal school semester, unless the employer wants you for 8 months, which then counts as two terms. They say average pay is $2000 a month, which is a little low, but I don't even have my degree yet, so its just experience-building. My friend, Yuna, got a work term up in Cambell River as a mapmaker for the government and they paid her a housing allowance, cause she was asked to move within a week. I could handle that !
They have asked me for a list of my top four places that I most want to work, and a description of my dream job, which is proving to be a harder task than it sounds. Part of the reason I applied into the program was so that I could figure out what I want to do for a career. I want to do at least one work term at a government position, hopefully in policy analysis or research. OMG, research would be freaking awesome.

Amazing Film

I watched this amazing dream-like Japanese film called Nausicaa on tv last night. It's apparently from the same Director/Film Company as Spirited Away, which won an Academy Award last year. The moment I changed the channel to watch it, I could not leave my room, it drew you into the story and was so amazingly fascinating. That never happens to me. The anime and visual efects were beautiful. Not like North American cartoon films, it was actually artistic and creative. The plot was a little hard to follow at first and really confused me, since I started watching half-way through. But after a bit I understood the storyline. It had some wonderful messages and lessons to be learned. After the movie, I felt like I had just come out of a deep meditation. The ending was magical, although I felt it was abrupt. Since all of our stories here seem to always come to nice cleanly explained endings, it just ended, much like a real story would. It was a beatiful story with some great teachings.

"It's In The Rain"
The rain comes down,
Close my eyes and listen.
I can hear the lonesome sound
Of the sky as it cries.
Listen to the rain
Here it comes again
Hear it in the rain
Feel the touch
Of tears that fall
...They won't fall forever
In the way the day will flow
All things come,
All things go.
Listen to the rain
...The rain...
Here it comes again...
...Again...
Hear it in the rain
...The rain...
Late at night
I drift away -
I can hear you calling,
And my name
Is in the rain,
Leaves on trees whispering,
Deep blue sea's mysteries.
Even when
This moment ends,
Can't let go this feeling.
Everything
Will come again
In the sound,
Falling down,
Of the sky as it cries.
Hear my name in the rain.

Worst day EVER
I just want the day to end, which appears to be happening sooner than expected cause the clouds are dark and the sky is looking more sinister than normal.
Today started like any other back-to-school day. I woke up at 6am, for a 7:10 bus, which gets me to Uvic at about 8:15, ust in time for me to run to my 8:30 lecture. My mom makes me some lunch, which was a sweet gesture, also badly needed because I think she an tell I was running late. I barely catch the bus and off I go to the day of hell.
After being on the bus for only a couple of minutes, my head starts to hurt. Then my nose begins to run. So there I am sniffling with my head pounding, when I realise that I have forgotten my print-out that tells me what buildings and rooms all my classes are in for the day, crap ! I call mom and luckily she hasn't left to take my brother to school yet. She reads the paper to me, and I write it all down. After doing my transfer to another bus, the headache dies down. My nose is still running but whatever.
I'm sitting in the middle of my first class, which is Math 103, Mathematics and Matrix Algebra for Economics, when my nose starts to run more. I instinctively get a kleenex from my bag and blow it. Bad idea. Turns out I'm having a nose bleed. First day, right in the middle of class, my nose is pouring blood like the waters of the Nile. I stay in class and insist upon writing down notes and being as conspicious about stopping the raging waters. Eventually it stops, but not after getting some weird glares from other people in the class. What's their problem ??
So I have a break and meet some friends for breakfast, mmm cafeteria food, gah. I then head off to my 4 hours straight of lecture. In the middle of my third hour, my head starts ringing. It hurts so bad and immediately I know that I have a migraine comming on. I go to take 3 advil, which is normally a good way to nip those in the bud. Guess what ?! I only have two pills left. So, I take those, which leave me wit a dull pain, which I then have to live with for about 4 hours, till I get home.
Speaking of home, the bus ride was the best part. I finally get out of class, and rush to the busses, catching the first one I can find, and not caring about the transfer. I talk to Steph as it pulls out, with a strong feeling that I've forgotten something. The first bus was fine. I have to run for the second bus, on which the driver-lady barks something at me about them not suppose to wait that long or us. I get to the top of the double-decker and sit listenig to music. A loud yell distrupts me, and upon glancing around, I see an all-black clad, stud wearing, skin-head, very fat man sitting right behind me. He has decided that it would be best to point out and freak out about every little thing along our 45 minute journey. He even yells about how he can see, from his upstairs vantage point, down girl's tops when they board the bus, much to his girlfriend's annoyance. This was just great to listen to, even with my ipod on, I could hear his yelling.
Finally, I get off the bus and arrive home. upon entry, I am greeted by a question posed by my mom. You see, I was suppose to pick up some books from the library for her, to help with some research. I told her I had simply forgotten, and I felt soo bad. She just marches off and proclaims that that is "fucking great". I freaked. The combination of everything of the last 9 hours built up, I slammed my door shut, changed into comfy clothes and fell asleep for 30 mins. Upon waking I sat down and began to write this blog.
I'm sure I've had worse days, but today was pretty crappy as far as the average day goes.

Inner Beauty

I saw the Doctor today. She said she notices that my acne has diministed. I ahven't had any new break-outs in like 3 weeks. I now just need to wait for it to take care of all the scaring I have. I can't wait, my biggest desire since I was 16 was to have clear skin.
On another note, I downloaded all the top 50 best dance/electronic songs of this year as rated by my favourite radio station c89.5 from Seattle. I love music, it has the ability to transform your mood and elevate your soul. I have been spending so much time with my best friends, the people that make me feel good and happy about the world and myself. I now refuse to ever involve myself with negative people or people who are negative powers in my life. I guess that's my New Year's Resolution !
Well, I'm off to go car shopping again, prolly going to test-drive a Mazda 3 and a Honda Civic Coupe, both 2006.

I Heart New Year's
Best New Year's partying ever ! So, I'm completely random, and it worked out soo well tonight, well this morning. I'm currently freaking hyper on drugs. I simply can't go to bed, so why even try? But first, the story...
So, I went to my friend Elaine's appartment, where I met her boyfriend and some of her coworkers I previously knew. We played Cranium and hung out talking until midnight, when we had some champagne and shared our New Year's resolutions. Then my friends Nassim and Kara came over. Kara is also an ex-raver, although she was waaay more into the scene than I ever was. Yes, I'm a little jealous. Anyways, it turns out she used to spin every once in a while and when she gave it up, her friend got all her old amps, records and such. So, he and some other people she knew were hosting a grand New Year's party (a.k.a. rave). I simply had to go. Leaving my car at Elaine's guest parking, we all jumped into Nassim's car, and the journey began...
Nassim agreed to come as well, even though due to religious beliefs, she cannot drink or do any sort of drugs. We first went to the party at a bar here called Soprano's, it had been completely transformed into the best party ever, it was suppose to be $25 cover, but we got in for like $10 each. I drank excessive amounts and danced my ass off. I made eyes with a hot guy dancing without a shirt, and we did dance a bit. But alas, I decided that because I was with other people, I wouldn't try to sleep with him. Kara had a small supply of drugs from both her doctor and dealers. I decided against the E, and took a Ritalin instead. I wanted to have energy, but not as much as E would create. We partied on until 4am. Here's the kicker: the party was suppose to go to 6am, but because of licensing issues and police stopping by, they ended it at 4am. That is effectively like 8pm in rave-time, most of the ones I've been to don't finish off until like 8am. We knew from contacts that there was to be an after party, and so the second part continues....
We went back to Nassim's car and drove, using instructions given to us hurriedly, to a warehouse along the water near Esquimalt. It was pretty seedy, but whatever. At this point I was high and cold and just wanted to dance. Because the first party was suppose to end at 6am, not 4am, the second place wasn't set up yet. So, in reward for waiving the $15 cover, we helped set up speakers and such. This translated into standing around looking pretty, since we had no fucking clue what to do. We then hung around until about 5:30am, at which point hunger and sore legs won over, also the drugs were losing their effect. We then said our goodbyes, and headed to Nassim's house, where I had some of the best Persian rice and meat ever.. mmmm.
Having then satisfied my hunger, and feeling weary, I drove home. I am still buzzed, so I'm writing this in an effort to keep me occupied until it wears off.
And that, my friends, is all she wrote.
I will try and find some of the photos from the event, I should have taken my camera. I'm forgetting how to be a raver, GAWD. I think I'm going to get back into the scene a bit. If not to just have some fun every once a month or so.
