Well, I don't even know where to begin.
I had a date last night. An internet date. Sigh. Well, I left my house half expecting to get there and he be ugly, annoying, or possibly socially retarded. It was a coffee and a walk date, so there were no expectations and there would be many opportunities for me to leave early if necessary.
I arrive and spot the black truck that I know he drives immediately. And yes, I think driving a truck is hot. Anyways, so I walk towards the Moka House in the Cook St. area which is where we are meeting. The area is gorgeous and very much the gay part of town. Neither of us live anywhere near it, but it kinda feels like the best place to meet. I call him to see which person on the patio picks up they're ringing cell, and no one does. I start going inside and see him waiting at the counter for his coffee.
I was stunned for a couple seconds, which is rare for me. I wouldn't have been stunned if he had been butt ugly or 60 or cross-eyed. What stunned me was how cute this guy was. I was literally overwhelmed.
I said hi, and he said hi, and we picked up our coffees and started to walk towards the beach. On our way I saw Charlie parking his bike to go in and enjoy his ritual evening caffeine. We chat for a bit and he tries to mouth me something, but I couldn't understand. It seemed like a warning, but I couldn't tell.
We walk to the beach, which turns out is bloody freezing and horribly windy. Plan B, we both drive our individual vehicles downtown and go to a place named The Mint. Its a dark, foreboding, mysterious place, that is literally in the basement of a seedy area of town. When you get there though, it is the most amazing food ever, and awesome drinks. The place has an atmosphere of worldliness, and the patrons tend to be the most interesting folks, I've even heard of celebrities being spotted there when they are in town.
Anyways, so we talk over wicked mojitos. He works for the town of Sooke, which is one of Victoria's suburbs. He's in charge of recreational planning for the entire district and organising major recreational activities. He's going back to school though in September, because though he has this great job at the age of 22, he feels that he has reached the ceiling of that career.
We admire the artwork next to our table that has two metal deer procreating on a glass sheet thing, and talk some more. We split the bill and then, on a whim, he buys a bottle of wine and we go up to the top of Mt. Douglas.
We must have sat there and chatted and drank for about an hour, it was a lot of fun. We were talking about how we both never expected to find anyone mildly interesting online, when he suddenly just pulled me towards him and we kissed. I was expecting a horrible kiss, I mean something has to be wrong with him ??
But no, his kissing skills are amazing, and he really knows what he is doing. Its a good mix of changing positions and slow, continuous action, without being ravenously tongue-hyperactive or boring. Then, to seal the deal, when we stopped and were looking at one another, he said how good of a kisser I am. That did it for me, he complimented me, and he was good at it himself.
Then, for another hilarious turn of events, we decided to go back to his truck, and he was going to drop me off at my car, but neither of us wanted to go home yet. I then had the brilliant idea of us going to the gay bar, where it would definately be warm and fun, lol.
It turned out to be drag queen bingo night. And let me tell you, we were the hottest people in the bar for the entire night. I hot quite a hoot out of how many old, drunk gay men were yelling at the queens to call better numbers. It made my night. We saw two mutual aquaintences and sat with them during bingo.
Besides me having to stop a possible fight between him and a lesbian over the pool table, it was rather uneventful. We just mostly made out and drank the rest of the night. We ended up leaving at about 2:15am, when we proceeded to make out even more against his truck outside. We talked about how it was such an amazing date, and how we would both love for me to come over to his place, but that it would be best if I didn't.
I was glad we agreed on that, although, I must say it was a hard decision to make. A good one, but a hard one. I walked a block over to my car after he left, and as I was driving home, I received a text message. All it said was 'trouble'.
I knew exactly what he meant, we were both trouble for one another. We had really hit it off on the first date, moreso than I think I ever have. We might be hanging out again tonight. I even invited him to "The Devil Wears Prada" movie night with all my friends. And he wasn't even scared or intimidated by the idea of meeting 6 of my best girlfriends all at once. So, thats this Saturday. I can hardly wait.

It's Done.
I did it, I gave my notice to Starbucks, and it went fairly well.
I just went in and ordered an iced coffee and a pound of coffee. Then, after I was rang through I went into the backroom and approached our manager. I gave her my letter of resignation, and she asked what it was as she opened the envelope. I told her it was my notice, and she half-jokingly said 'Nooo!'. I could tell she was getting upset, so I just said that I won't be on the new schedule she is doing and that I hope she has a good day and enjoys the vacation she is leaving for tommorrow.
I feel bad telling her the day before she goes on a three week vacation, but thats not my fault. I know she is taking it at a bad time, but what can I do ?
The good side is that I don't have to see her ever again as her employee, because by the time she gets back, my last day would have passed and I will be at RBC.
I hope that all the current staff who are competant and awesome to work with understand. It was a decision I had to make, and I do not regret, but one that I feel bad for doing. I leave with no bad feelings or negative wishes against them, so hopefully they will return the favour.
Plus, I'm free !

I'm sure I will have more to post later...

Long Distance ?
Why is it that things are always so close to perfection, without actually being ?
I've met a guy who lives in Vancouver. I must admit I'm a little smitten. He is really sweet and endearing. I just am left wondering why I am teased so badly by the universe ? I mean, he seems perfect, and even if he is not, there are some others, not many tho. In anyway, they are ALL in Vancouver. I'm sure if I lived there I could meet a perfect guy, and fall in love, but what if I do anyways ?
I guess I just never saw myself ever doing the whole long-distance thing, but what if I meet the right guy, does distance automatically dismiss Mr. Right ? I would hate the commuting, and the poor communication, but I can also see how it would make the relationship more intense when you do see one another.
The cheating thing is another worry, I've been burned before, and that was when we lived in the SAME city ! Would the distance just make it easier for that to be an issue ?
Oh, I just dont't know. It's not like this a relationship now anyways. We've not even met in real yet. But should we ? Will we just be setting ourselves up for disaster ??
Or could we hit it off, and make it work... ?
(this song speaks to me, I love the Scissor Sisters)
It's at some motherfucking disco
The people there where dancin' on it
And that's including Ms. Matronic
Hell if music is the victim then so am I
Of lovin' and a cheatin' the snake gon' bite
I beg and I scream and I cuss and I cry
If music is the victim then so am I
Of your bad fun
Money's all gone but you need some
Lover's on the phone but they got none
Daddy ain't home from the dog run
And you're running through the city with a shotgun
I left my bag in Pasadena
Where all them girls was doin' Tina
Them bitches sure were crunked up on it
I said I'd rather smoke som chronic
Hell if music is the victim then so am I
Of lovin' and a cheatin' the snake gon' bite
I beg and I scream and I cuss and I cry
If music is the victim then so am I
Of your bad fun
Money's all gone but you need some
Lover's on the phone but they got none
Daddy ain't home from the dog run
And you're running through the city with a shotgun
I left my man in Houston Texas
Just before he finished breakfast
He said; oh baby fry some more eggs
But I was runnin' on my own two legs
Hell if Jesus had the power than so do I
To rise up from the dead and take up to the sky
I'm buskin' for the money so I get by
If music is the victim then so am I

So thats what boys are good for !
Today I finally bought new razor blades. I've been needing new ones for about three weeks now, the soft-geanti-irritation strip is all worn off, and its getting dull. So, yesterday I figured if I threw away the one I was using, it would finalyl force me to buy more. I forgot, and this morning I needed to shave. So, sadly, I dug in the garbage, took the old razor blade and cleaned it with boiling water, to sanitise, and used it one final time.
I remembered to get more today after school. I went to London Drugs and bought a pack of 8 and was happy. Upon returning to Sidney, I realised I had bought the wrong kind and that they didn't even fit my razor, CRAP ! There is no London Drugs anywhere near where I live. not only that, but I didn't get my receipt. I was screwed. So, in desperation, I went to the nearest drug store, Pharmasave, and went to buy another package. Low and behold, a guy that I went on a date with was working. Thank the gods ! He's totally cute, but not out of the closet fully, so its kinda annoying. In any case, when I told him that I had bought this package a couple days ago from them (white lie) and that I had no receipt and no proof, he stopped what he was doing with a ladder to help me. He got down, walked me over to the tills, opened up one just for me, so I skipped a line of about 5 people at the only one open. He rang me in the ones I needed and they turned out to be on sale for cheaper, he gave me the sale price, and refunded my credit card the difference. He was such a huge sweetheart, we chatted for a bit, as he completely ignored the other customers in line, and made sure to convince me to take my receipt this time. I even caught him checking my ass out as I left, hehe.
I will most definately give him a call later, and a second date if he wants to, which I'm sure he does. It most certainly pays to know boys, it turns out they are good for something !

Damn Boys !
I have a final in five days, and I've done almost no studying. I have a big date on Tuesday. I'm copying Steph and going out for dinner with a guy from further up the island and then to the movie 'Nacho Libre' and then for a walk/drive. He has a hot new Jetta, so the drive was a necessity.
I've become really enamoured with a couple boys right now, and I can't focus on studying. I need to just take a quick break from them all, and do this exam. I really want to have a boyfriend by the end of the summer, but we will see if it happens. Its my personal goal, so yeah, I hope....
UPDATE:
yeah, I give up. He called today to say that he has to work tommorrow suddenly. He is an addictions counsellor at a local drug recovery centre called Edgewood. I'm really quite mad, not necessarily at him, although he gets some of it, but more at just fate. Fine, if the universe doesn't want anything to ever work out for me in the way of dating, then I won't even try. I mean, so far I have wasted a huge chunk of my time on it, and I've literally gotten no benefit at all.
Fate is a concept that has existed since the beginning of humanity. The idea that our lives are guided by some overwhelming purpose or plan. So if such a plan exists, doesn't it defeat the idea of trying to acheive something. I mean, if fate is all powerful, then whats the point in trying ? Or, do we, by trying, fulfill our own fates ?
Whatever the answer, I know one thing, I'm sick of all this. Sick of settling for mediocre, sick of being disappointed on the first date and wasting money and time on it, sick of all the crap and work of matchmaking. If fate exists, then either it doesn't want me to have a relationship, or it wants to make me work hard for it. Either way, fuck fate. I'm fine on my own, and so shall I remain, for eternity.

New Favourite Song
This song rocks, and everybody has to watch the music video. I uploaded it from my computer, which I must say Google Video has made it amazingly easy to do, and I can't believe I was the first one to upload it onto there. So now I can share it with the entire world, Muwahahah !
P.S. Don't you think the DJ's are both amazingly hot !? Especially the black one.... rherrr.
P.P.S. The song is called Waterman by Olav Basoski.

Top Shop here I come ?

Ok, so ask anyone that knows me, I change my life plans a lot. But, this time, I think its my true inner self is expressing its desires.
You see, I've always been very fashion-conscious. I have even watched runway shows online when I couldn't find a channel showing my favourite designer's line (I'm particularly fond of Miu Miu and DSquared).
Anyways, so tonight I was watching the season finale of Sky One's Project Catwalk. I simply loved the line that the girl that won designed. However, she was not my choice, the third-runner-up was my favourite. She used the most amazing fabrics and was totally over-the-top with her colars and emphasizing details to the extreme. It was while I was critiquing them that I realised that fashion is my love. I am currently reading "The Devil Wears Prada" for the third time, so that it is fresh in my mind for when the movie premiers the end of this month. I just bought a Gucci belt over eBay for a fabulous price, and it simply made my week. I have the best taste and style,... my mom says I inherited her 'painfully expensive' taste.
Nothing in the world would make me happier than the idea of working with fashion and design for the rest of my life. I don't know in what capacity, but I know that is what I want to do. And that is worth listening to, right ? Or am I crazy ... ?
One thing is for sure, I am doing a degree in Economics right now, and that has nothing to do with fashion. I'm halfway through my degree though, so it seems dumb to quit now.
I seriously am considering the possibilities. I don't necessarily have to be a designer, I could open a store and hire a designer for the line, or buy from other designers, but I dunno. I really like the creativity of design. I think the point is that I am an amazingly creative person, and there is literally no creativity in Economics, its just math. I'm good at math, but its not that interesting.
Have the last two years been a complete waste of my time, money ($10,000 of it !) and efforts ?!?!
ARgh, I feel like I am at an impass right now, and I feel the pressure to make the right decision. Maybe I will just complete my degree and save up money working in banking to one day open my store or line, or maybe I'll go to design school after UVic, or maybe I'll just drop out and try design and fail and be a loser....
I fear failure SO much. I want to be successful, and so I base all my decisions on the possibility of success. It's soo many unknowns.... I just don't know.

Party Palace in James Bay

Ok, so the new one is not my future husband, but he is the first person whom I have ever smoked pot with !
It was a great night and morning and afternoon. I just got home from last night and had a shower, its almost 8pm. I could go out tonight too, but I don't think I will. I work tommorrow at 9am. bummers...
Anyways, so I went home after work last night, and showered and made myself pretty. I then headed to Temple to meet up with Lanny, his friend Jeremy (a fabulous, famous, flaming fag), Kyle (whose birthday it was, he was boring), and Shannon (A mutual girlfriend of theirs and mine). We had a couple drinks and then headed back to the small, two-bedroom appartment that three gay men and a woman share. Its funny cause they are all friends and some share beds, but none of them are dating one another. Anyways, so we all head back there, and have some beers. Low and behold some pot appears from somewhere, and they all take turns toking. I turned it down at this point because I am sober and can think.
The party possy then heads out to Hush, a gay-friendly dance club, the music they spin is amazing, but the place is tiny and drug-filled. Seriously, I had almost a dozen people offer me whatever I wanted, but whatever. So, at Hush I drink a LOt, and much to Larry's happiness I turn into my normal slutty-drunk self. Thank god I didn't try to take over the dancefloor like normal, although I distinkly remember hitting on his friend. I also had two cigarettes for the first time since I stopped smoking. They made me light-headed, and felt SO good. Meh...
Anyways, so we then all pile into someone's car and head back to the party palace in James Bay (the aforementioned appartment). The weed appears again, and this time I take it, and proceed to hog it a lot. Before I know it, I am ripped for the first time. I was so high that I was giggling at the word 'toast' for almost half an hour. I tried explaining economics and apparently said it was all about living in a ball. Also, at sometime Lanny starts talking about how he doesn't believe in 'gay momogamy', which made me happy. I don't see myself with him as a monogamous boyfriend, but I can see us as good 'special' friends.
At about this time I decided to go up to a drag queen and start a conversation about how amazing her hair was ! It was great, hilarious in fact. We talked a lot about wigs and the pros and cons of nylons. I also almost hit on a transvestite. S(he) was HOT ! The only reason I know it was woman undergoing surgery was someone who knew Kyle told me, as he tried to pry us apart. Thank god.
Anyways, so at this pointeveryone is at their place, including some Indian guy that Jeremy brought back with him. They then preoceed to 'disappear' into one of the rooms for the rest of the night. I hang out with them all, including a fun trip of four blocks to a "Mac's" for nothing in particular, just snack foods, munchies are no lie !
So at about 7am, we all finally mellow out and start falling asleep. Lanny and I head to his bedroom that he shares a BED with the girl who lives with them. Luckily she isn't there, so we have the bed to ourselves. Fun was had, nuff said.
We are then woken up at 9:15am by his bed-roomie. We apparently left a window open in their basement appartment, and her freaking-weird cat got out. She freaks out at us and punishes us the worst way she can, by not shutting up with the yelling and repition of the word "fuck". She then kicks us out of the room onto the futon in the livingroom. She later found the cat, and appoligised for 'being a bitch'. Damn right HOE !
Lanny and I then make out and snuggle on the futon for about four hours. At this point he has to get up and help his friend that has to attend a wedding today. He is a rare sub-breed of gay men, and was born without an ounce of fashion sense. Thank god I was there. We paired a nice black pinstripe pant with a red shirt and Gucci-knockoff belt. It took all of my powers of reasoning to convince him that wearing that outfit with brown loafers was dispicable. He finally gave in and took some nice pointy black ones.
What would people do without me ?
Anyways, so now its early afternoon and Matthew needs his coffee beverage. Luckily Lanny's building is literally across the road from a Starbucks. Thank the Caffeine Gods ! So, I pick up some liquid-joy-in-a-paper-cup and head back into their place. Jeremy heads off to work and Lanny does the same later that afternoon. At this point I call my friend Breena and meet her and her boyfriend at the Cactus Club for some drinks and a late lunch. We hang out and watch some of the hockey game (hurl).
After a couple Spiked Fraps I get into my car and drive the horrid 45 minutes home. I hate living in the middle of nowhere. However, being at home is GREAT. I finally am sober and showered and there isn't an ounce of cat hair on me !
I am debating going out again tonight, Lanny wants to cuddle after is work at 11pm. I work at 9am tommorrow tho, so I don't know if it is going to happen.
I am kinda feeling ugly tonight now. There's nothing like an entire night and day with a big group of hot fags to make you feel a little self-concious. Seriously, they are ALL sooo hot. I need to go tanning and loose about 4 inches off my tummy. I need to work out my ass too, its flabby. Then I can head out with them for the "Hot Buns" contest at the gay bar !
So yeah, it was a GREAT time. I need to do this more often. I think I might go out again either tonight or Monday. I love summer.

New Boy !
OK, scratch the last post, I'm over him (it turns out he is a bus driver, and is broke, I'm such a bitch!).
The new one is my future husband !
He is the CUTEST, 23, gorgeous dark features, smart, laid back, and an ex Starbucks employee ! He was fired cause he was 2 hours late for an open three times, haha. He rocks ! (now he works at the front desk of a hotel)
We just talked for 2 hours about our signs, and our passions and loves. He is Scorpio and firey and passionate like me, Aries. Our signs, according to the internet, mean we will either have a perfect long-lasting relationship, or will have passionate sex and then fall apart. Since we are such fiery personalities, we can either feed off each other or explode and die. haha !
He is also a Hilarious drunk, its awesome, he is the opposite drunk that I am. While I am the most easy going person when I am drunk, he gets loud and rambunctious. He gets bossy and funny, I will do anything when I am drunk. Hrm, This may not be the best fit actually on second thought, lol. I am soo enamoured with him, he is cute and lived in Montreal so he can speak some french. He smokes, and I'm sorry, but I find smoking hot. I know its dumb, but I think its gorgeous, plus EVERYONE there smokes. Europe is like that too.
OH, he is 23 and has had 44 cars, no joke. He loves cars, and half of them were Hondas :D I love hondas. He even had the same car as what I currently drive. hehe, I'm sorry, but driving a hot car totally has bonus points.
I'm SOO excited for tommorrow, I'm getting my hair cut in 6.5 hours and then I'm going out for coffee and brunch with him. I'm excited cause I will look fresh and hot. I want to reel this one in ! Then I'm off to class, he goes to work, then I go to work. Then we both are going out tommorrow night after our work ! hehe. I can't wait.
I think I might end up spending the night over at his place....

Bad Boy ...

He is the most perfect guy in the world. He is about 5'10 maybe 5'11, so only slightly shorter than me, and sooo hot. He is built like no one's business and looks quite a lot like Vin Diesel, its hot. He has the most awesome earing that goes perfectly with a sort of bad-boy look he has going on. He rides a motorcycle, which is hot, it just is. I want to post a picture of him on here, to show him off, but I'm not sure he would exactly like that seeing as he knows nothing of this blog, so I won't. Trust me, he's hot.
I can't believe how perfectly my type he is, its really surprising. There is a slight glitch though, he is 34. I'm 20. I don't think its that big of a deal, but I'm starting to wonder if I should think it is. I mean, he is all I look for in a guy. He is physically attractive, outgoing, knows what he wants, assertive, sensitive, honest and has a great smile. It's almost overwhelming how perfet he is, the only issue is the age difference.
But I think I should look at it like this: If he was near my age would I still see him ? And the answer is a resounding YES ! Therefore, I think I should continue. We just hung out for a bit today, and he drove all the way out here to see me for only an hour, it was sweet (seeing as its a 45 minute drive one way). We're apparently going for a ride on his bike on Monday, which will be most exciting. I've never been on a motorcycle, let alone for a ride, but we'll see. It's kind of scary how a machine like that can be such a turn-on.
I feel like I'm on the verge of something great, and possibly my first long-term relationship, so I feel like I should just dive on in ! It just tears me up inside worrying about what some people might think, but I'm not going to think about that right now !
I will update as it progresses. I can't wait for Monday now ! :D

Starbucks Etiquette 101
Ok, so here I am up "studying" late tonight for a Quiz on Wednesday, enjoying my third Americano today and watching the season final of The Apprentice. The show ends and I start thinking about work, partly because I'm procrastinating, and partly because I'm drinking coffee. In any case, here I am thinking about work, what I hate (the hours, customers), and what I love (the staff, customers), when I realise what my main drive is for leaving, the customers. I live in a seaside town, a MAJOR tourist town. This is both a curse and a blessing. It can be amazing meeting the people from all over the world that come here in the summer, and I also feel partly blessed for living in a place that people pay to visit, especially in the summer. It can also be hell, especially at work. Most of our tourists are Americans, and no offense to those of you who are kind and respectful, but most Americans make lousy customers. But not all obnocious customers come from south of the border, there are plenty here already.
This brings me back to the reason behind this post. I don't think most people out there realise just how much their behaviour towards employees in customer service can effect that person's day. The main reason I am excited to have a new job somewhere else is that I will be treated with more respect and dignity by customers than at Starbucks, where we have made monsters out of people. Not only do people walk in the door expecting the fastest service in the world no matter how many people are in line, but they expect to unload all their negative energy on the employee in the process. I have numerous examples of new people almost coming to tears because of how snide or rude a customer was to them, us old veterans just get used to it.
This is unacceptable. Since when did the notions of a simple 'please' and 'thank you' accompanying every request become rare to find ? Are we that obsessed with efficiency and speed that we no longer care that we are talking to a genuine human being, not a coffee-producing robot ?
Now, don't get me wrong, there are PLENTY of wonderful customers out there, most of them regulars at our store. However, I must say, that on a daily basis I encounter more negative, rude or simply grouchy people at work than I ever see nice, polite or kind customers. I can remember, to this day, every time a customer has made me well up in tears, I can even remember times where I have had inappropriate and/or discriminatory things said to me. I have only once been moved to tears by a kind gesture at work, and that was when I came in on a day off for a latte, and the regular customer in front of me paid for it. I went to my car and balled afterwards, not because it was a particularly amazing thing to do. Rather, it was because she had treated me like a decent human being.
I'm not saying everyone out there should go out and buy a coffee for a Starbucks employee, but rather that they remember that the people they are ordering from are human.
Here are four few, simple things that I personally find the most important. When a customer does all these, it simply makes my day:
- If I ask you "Hi, how's it going?", don't just start to rattle off your order. Did I ask you for your order ? If your doctor came up to you on the street and said that, would you just demand their next appointment right away, without any niceties ? Just a simple "Good, how are you?" and then your order is perection.
- 'Please' and 'Thank you'. I know its simple, but most people never say those words, I usually hear "Gimmee a ...", or "I'll have a ...", or the infamous "I want a ..."
- Don't complain to me about the line-up, I am working as hard as I can to end it, and chances are, I am more worried about it than you.
- Last, but definately not least: If there is an issue with your drink, feel free to tell me about it. But do so in a nice way, "you can catch more bees with honey than with vinegar". I have given out 'free drink' coupons to people with minor complaints, just because they were amazingly nice. I have also not given them out to very serious complaints because they were rude and harassing to me and/or others. And yes, how nice you are to me can determine how much I am willing to help you.
Now, how hard is that to do ? It definately won't make you any later for work, or your day go any worse. But it may make someone else's day better, and speed up your service. It also, may just make you see the world from a view your not used to.
Now, how hard is that to do ?

Sunday Dreaming
Sitting here listening to the Scissor Sister's UK-only song "The Skins" (my friend sent the CD to me from the UK) I realised what I want my future business to be. It sounds corny and stereotypical, but I want to open a clothing store. But not just any clothing store, anyone can do that. I want it to be unique and classy. I was thinking a store that has on-hand designers and seamstresses.
Each season we would design a new line of clothes, but only make enough for displays and fashion shows (naturally one per season). After the line is out, people come to the store and choose the item(s) they like. We then take their measurements and make the clothing to fit them. There would also be "personal fashion assistants". PFA's would be in charge of welcoming clients and helping them choose items that fit their body type and style. The client could also choose what sorts of fabric to use, from a predetermined selection of two or three.
I think it's a perfect way to ensure that no matter what body type the customer has, you can have something for them. thereby creating the largest client base possible. The clothing would be high-end but no more expensive than maybe Guess or Banana Republic. I think it's a perfect way to provide people with personalised clothing to fit their needs. I have no idea about the finances of it all, or even if it is feasible. I need to find someone who can design the stuff, lol. Well, its not like I'm doing it right now.
If you have any ideas, or criticism, tell me ! I have about three different ideas right now, I just need to decide upon one, haha ! One day, I'll have my own business, I just need to save up for a couple decades before I open it !

Possible Homicide

It is Most likely that in the near future I will go down to a Roger's Wireless store and take one of their phones, rip it in half and stab an employee to death with the sharp edges of broken cellular death. I imagine it will look something like the above photo, only more blood and in a commercial store.
"Why is Matthew so homicide-happy recently ?" you might be asking yourself, glad you asked !
It all started Monday, when I got my Roger's Bill. Not a happy time to begin with, but then I realised that my mom only uses 19 minutes on average out of her 200-weekday-minutes plan. The cellular plan is in my name because I get a corporate discount. So, I try calling their customer service, it doesn't go through, and I get a busy signal. HOW IN THE NAME OF DONATELLA VERSACE IS IT POSSIBLE FOR AN AUTOMATED CUSTOMER SERVICE TELEPHONE SERVICE TO HAVE A BUSY SIGNAL ???!!!
So, I think that I have the wrong number. Nope, I call one of their stores, and the number is correct. So, I try calling for THREE days, and it either hangs up on me from the start, or I get halfway through the selection process and it hangs up, or I dial "0" for an operator and get hun up on. F@CKING MOST AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE !
So, today I try calling a store because I am on the verge of tears about this. The first store I call doesn't answer their phone at 1PM IN THE F@CKING AFTERNOON ! The second store answers and I am getting ready to tear the guy to shreds when he acknowledges it is a major issue that they have been having for the last week and that even he is fed up with the bad service. He told me, and I quote "welcome to the wonderful world of Roger's customer service". Sarcasm ? You're giving me F@CKING sarcasm ??!?!
I hung up on him, and then called yet another store. They gave me no sympathy at all. I was simply told that even though their telephone service is f@cked up, that I can come into a store and do the necessary changes in person. I asked if I can do it over the phone, because the nearest store is a 40 minute drive from my house. Nope, I need to give them verbal confirmation in person for them to change my plan.
So, essentially they have F@CKED up big time. They have a screwed up technical issue, that they don't seem able to fix, then they have ample opportunities to appoligise or correct the issue with the customer and make me happy, but they don't. They then completely refuse to go out of their way to help me or make it easier for me, when I come up with my OWN solution. I also wasted how much of my time trying to get this situation resolved, and nothing happens, no resolution and absolutely no outcome. It makes me sooo mad, especiallt considering that I work in Customer Service. If this happened where I work, it would have not only been resolved, but it would have been resolved quickly, effectively, and with a lot of free stuff. I didn't get anything near the general area of that sort of a response.
I could honestly kill someone, thank god no one is in my house right now.

I was actually SO bored yesterday after my class, that I did this to pass the time.
How sad is that ?

Waxing: Part II
Ok, so after my traumatic experience with my old esthetician, I simply went to a new one. She was an old friend in High School, and just started at the high-end Aveda salon I (and Steph) go to. She was wonderful. I naturally got the redness afterwards, so she put on a lovely Chanel liquid foundation to hide the redness until it fades later tonight. I am impressed with the results, my brows don't look "done" but rather just sculpted. It's fabulous.
We also talked about a wonderful film we both rented this weekend (we apparently think alike) called Match Point, it is simply wonderful. Everyone who reads this should go out and rent it. The film is a perfect British thriller. It starts as an off-beat romantic plot, that quickly turns from lovely to eerie to downright disturbing. I loved it. Simply the best movie since the Oscars.
The film also inspired a change of hair for me. That and the new job, where it will be necesary to look better. It will also be easier to upkeep good hair, Less steam, heat and such. Since I have stereotypical male mousy brown British hair that never wants to do what it is told and is annoyingly straight with a weird curl at the back, a British hairstyle will be perfect. I no longer wish to constantly colour my hair more interesting colours, but will acknowledge my boring colour and work with it. Plus, my hair and wallet will be less damaged without the colourings. To the point, the styles are mostly inspired by one of the male characters in the movie, Chris Wilton (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers). His hair is perfect, can't you just see me with this hair ?

So much News !!
Ok, so let's start with the oldest information first, which makes no sense. I hate being chronological anyways !
I'm literally on cloud nine. I got called on Thursday for a second interview at RBC (Royal Bank of Canada for you foreigners ;P). I went in at 10am on Saturday to see the Manager of Client Care for the branch. She is hilarious, we had a long conversation about how our lives would shatter if it wasn't for post-its™. Anyways, so the 'interview' was actually just her asking me what my availlability would be for July and August and if I have a way to get downtown to do the first 4 weeks of training. I was pretty exstatic. She then told me that pending a criminal record check, I am effectively hired. I should expect my job offer letter and package in the mail by the end of this week coming up. I am a mixture of relief and excitement. It's funny though, after all these months of complaining about how dumb my current job is, I feel very reserved about telling people the news. I am afraid of being a jerk at work by seemingly rubbing it in people's noses. So, I'm only telling the people I am friends with. I have no idea wether or not I am going to quit Starbucks or stay on part-time. We'll just have to see.
In other news, WHAT WAS WITH THE SEASON FINALE OF BATTLESTAR GALACTICA !? If anyone out there watches the show as well, please tell me what the hell they were thinking by these new twists ?? Effectively, the idiot that almost made the entire human race extinct was elected President of the Colonies. He then procedes to settle the surviving ships on New Caprica, which is the dumbest idea ever ! Then the Cylons come a year later, and almost everyone is going to die except Odama and his son, because they were the only ones smart enough to stay on the two Battlestars, so they could jump away. Idiotic fools ! They had better make some things right in the next season, or else I don't see how humanity isn't going to go extinct.
In related news, which actually isn't at all, I took yet another online test. This time it was to find out what kind of coffee I am. The results were surprisingly accurate. Not only do I usually drink just espresso with some hot water and a little cream, but it seems to have gotten my personality perfectly ! This one was definately more accurate than the 'abnormal' one. Oh, and for you Starbucks™ gurus, they spell Frappuccino™ wrong if you get it as your answer. I almost cried.
And the results are:
| You Are an Espresso |
At your best, you are: straight shooting, ambitious, and energetic At your worst, you are: anxious and high strung You drink coffee when: anytime you're not sleeping Your caffeine addiction level: high |

Late Night Pondering
My life is brilliant,
My love is pure,
I saw an angel,
of that I'm sure... WAIT !
I just realised, while listening to James Blunt, that I have never been in love. I mean, I have dated, and had relationships with men, but I've never been in love. The sort of love that grabs you, and makes you do stupid things, never experienced it. Makes it kinda hard to listen to love songs without thinking your missing out somehow.
So, I got a 'wink' from someone on Hi5, one of the websites I have a profile on. He's cute, so I sent one back with my messenger address, but I don't expect much. I've kind of become anti-love. It's not that I don't wish for it, but I think I secretly don't want it. I mean, it will just distract from my work and school, and take up precious time, right ? lame argument, I know.
Perhaps this is just yet another defense mechanism I have. I never knew what a real loving relationship was, the only ones I ever experienced through my parental units were disfunctional at best. My mom'd first husband, my dad, died in an accident, and then her second husband was physically abusive, and then my current stepdad is an emotional wreck. He loves her, but there are so many cultural issues and mental health issues with him that it interferes. Hence, they have been seperated since we moved back to Canada, almost five years ago. He still lives in Dubai, because he is from there. I think they never got a formal divorce because some part of my mom still loves him, dispite the majority of her soul that hates his guts. I never liked him. We never got along, and we never will. I sometimes blame myself for their break-up, because I was so very honest about how I didn't like him. Then again, maybe I was just symptomatic of their realtionship. The last two years before we moved back, they didn't even sleep in the same house. He lived in the guest house, we lived in the main villa. So, clearly it was more than just me, right?
I miss our lifestyle when they were together, thats for sure. I'm pretty sure thats why they stayed together as long as they did, that and for my little brother. He didn't really care that much about me, because I wasn't his blood son, but my brother is. International marriages suck, because he is in another country, especially one that is so patriarchal, we will never get any sort of child support. It will be a big victory if we get full custody of my brother, you know, the son he has had no contact with for five years. Makes me mad beyond all human belief.
I think this is why I am so afraid of love. I'm not sure I even believe in it. Maybe love is just a mix of bad hormones and pheremones that make you think you love the other person. A leftover from the days that we needed them to ensure procreation and survival. It certainly can mess up a life. If it hadn't of been for falling in love and getting married, my mom would have had a great TV career, since she was the first female (and first white) TV news anchor in the Middle East. She would have finished her master's degree decades ago, instead of finishing it this summer. It's impossible to tell how our lives would be different, but I imagine they would be better.
Then again, I wouldn't have the great little brother I have. He would have never of been born had it not been for her falling in love...
If love does exist out there, pretty sure I'm subconsciously avoiding it. Life is just so much simpler without those sorts of interuptions. Who needs the headache ?
[I can't believe I just talked that much about my personal feelings and family history, I've been sitting here debating whether to publish this post, or delete it for almost 10 minutes now.]

Thank You Celine !

It's one in the morning, and I am exuberant. I just figured out a messy little equation, it broke down, and it was all SO simple. I was amazingly nervous for my midterm on Wednesday (which I guess is now tommorrow) because he told us there will be one question worth 40% of the test. I know exactly what that question will be. He will ask us to derive consumer surplus, producer surplus, marginal revenue, marginal profit, and the deadweight loss of a monopoly market. This is a simple task when dealing with real numbers, but he will ask us to derive it using variables in the form of A, B, C, Q and P, making it much harder. I was stumped half way through figuring out one equation, without which, I could not figure out the rest of anything. For three days the solution has eluded me. No more ! It all came together in one of those late night moments of brilliance. I love working until the wee hours of the morning. There is something about the energy late at night. It is calm, serene, and odd. I love knowing that, especially on a Monday night, almost no one in this town is awake except me.
So, there I am, listening to Celine Dion on my iPod, when the moment of clarity struck me. I feel almost high right now. I just scribbled away feverishly for about 20 minutes, with all the other equations falling into perfect order. I solved the question, and feel so much more confident about the test. But, more importantly, I triumphed ! I didn't have to go get help from him, or another student, I did it on my own. And though I know I'm a dork for being exuberant about solving a math equation for an economics question while listening to Celine Dion, I don't care. I did it !
I'm going to make it afterall !!
(I can't help it, I'm listening to cheesy music)

I heart rain

It' raining outside, and I'm sitting on my bed with my notebook and admiring the softness of the afternoon. I worked this morning, which is odd for me, normally I work nights. It was a nice change, I think that is one of the things I will miss when I have a regular 9-5 sorta job. I like the change of rhythm every once in a while, just as long as they are not opening shifts.
I have a midterm on Wednesday, after only 2 weeks of class, so that will be interesting. This summer class is one of those intense classes than crams what would normally be covered in 4 months into only 2 months of intense class. It's great cause you get the class and the credits of a normal class, but its over and done with sooner ! The good thing is that the prof is one of those that completely lets you know, through hinting, exactly what will be on the midterm ahead of time. The material is crazy hard, but his teaching style makes the class a less hard than it could be.
I planted my tomatoes a couple weeks ago and they have flourished. I've found this perfect little spot around the back of the house, right next to the back door, that is perfect for Roma tomatoes. The sun is really intense and hot, so they grow fash. The area is protected by the house and large bushes, so the cold winds don't get at the little seedlings. Yep, it would be a perfect spot except for the fact that I forgot to account for my mom, and her lack of gardening skills. I asked her ONCE to water them, and out of 8 plants, she managed to trample 2 with the hose and her feet. Now, I have to go and buy two more from the nursery, which will be relatively expensive, cause I saved money by buying a pack of 8 originally. Argh, I definately didn't get my green thumb from my mom.
I've always imagined myself owning my own business one day. Recently I've been wondering if I should do something related to plants. I love gardening and have really strong views on landscaping. I believe that landscaping should be done to reflect the natural habitat that the house is in. Out here, that means quaint moss-covered rocks, and large beds of wildflowers with trailing ivy and periwinkles, intermingled with large fir trees and evergreen shrubs. No one does that. Everyone here does the californian, big areas of grass with rhododenrons and almost no evergreen bushes or natural trees. Besides plumb and willow trees, there is not a non-fir tree that I think makes sense in a garden here. They loose they're leaves in the winter, at a time when we don't even get snow, and almost everything else remains green. Sigh, no one appreciates our natural plant life here, it's gorgeous. Anyways, so since I have these strong views, I was thinking I should somehow make them work for me and some sort of a business. I haven't a clue what sort of business would be possible. Ok, well now I've rambled. I'm going to go back to studying. Yay for rain, it always makes me pensive !
UPDATE:
I also have decided not to invest in the gold mining company previously stated in the post before this one. The stock market took a huge dive the other day (Thurs?) and I know enough about penny stocks to not be completely happy with the notion of putting all my savings into one. Especially when these are savings that are for my schooling. I will make my money the old fashioned way, two jobs, here I come !

AHhhh.
I am so relaxed right now.
I just had an intense excercise/yoga session in the livingroom while my mom was off teaching this morning. It started out with ball excercises and the usual sit-ups and push-ups. Then, I realised I was late for my yoga class, so late that I would disrupt the class if I went now. So, I just stayed in the livingroom, put on some Enya, and did about 1.5 hours of awesome yoga. I feel very stretched out and relaxed. I need to start to do this every morning. I am relaxed, sore, hungry and calm. It's awesome !
I simply cannot compete with out neighbours' garden any longer. It's a long story, rich with tales of deceit, love, romance and the occasional battle. I am running late for my class at 12:30, so I will have to tell you all later, mayhap this afternoon I will update and then there will not be this gigantic cliffhanger. Speaking of which, I need to blog about the tumultuous season finale of Grey's Anatomy ~ !! TTYL !
UPDATE:
So much to update, so little attention span...
So, I am amazingly sunburnt. We (my brother and I) went to the fair that is here in out little seaside town. It was pretty cool, amazingly tiny, but still lots of fun. I literally dragged him onto the ferris wheel, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. His little friend joined us there and we all went on this twisty ride called the 'tornado', also lots of fun ! Now we're at home, and I don't wanna make dinner, but I have to, arghh. Mom's at work late tonight, so its party time for us kids. A.K.A. cheap ice cream and other things we're not normally allowed are being consumed in mass quantities.
I'm going to go study a bit and make dinner at the same time. We had an in-class surprise quiz today that I could have done much better on. The thing is, had I actually studied last night, I totally would have aced it. Another ARgH. I'm totally sore from the intense yoga this morning, but it felt so good that I'm going to do it again tommorrow, until I get my skinny flabby ass in shape !
I dropped one of my summer courses, but before I did, I had applied for a student loan for the summer. It was going to be my buffer so I could quit my current job and still be ok. Well, since I'm only doing one course right now, they won't give me any money afterall, which was ok with me until this afternoon. I got a late letter saying how much they were 'going' to give me. It was $3,683 !!! I could have gotten that freaking money and quit my job, if only I had kept the one course I was taking ! ARRrrrRGhH. It's too late for me to reregister and reapply I think, or else I would because I've only missed two of the classes since I dropped it. Maybe I will go in tommorrow and see if I can do that. I'm terribly upset now. So much lost money....

To Invest or Not To Invest

Ok, so about a year ago my uncle, whom I hate, gave me enough money to pay for me to complete my education. Naturally, he didn't give me enough money to pay for books or for living, but rather, to just cover tuition for the rest of my courses, plus a little extra in case I need to retake one or two.
Now, my mom is going to Montreal for a conference in August, which is when Montreal is famous for its sometimes scorching heat. Anyways, the city is also famous for its fashion, and my mom loves fashion. So, I want to be able to give her a couple thousand to spend on shopping, because I know she would never spend that money on herself while she is there.
This is where the debate comes in. You see, I have enough money sitting in this account to buy quite a lot of a penny stock, which would hopefully then grow by about 40 cents and earn me a couple thousand easily. The only issue is that I could also loose all the money, or a portion of it, and that would put me between a financial rock and a hard place... Usually I like hard places, but not in this situation.
This isn't just about the trip though, I really wish I could help my family out a little more financially than I can, and this would be the perfect way to give my mom a well deserved gift. I'm SO torn !
I have a couple of stocks that I like, they are in growing sectors, mostly energy and fuel companies, and they trade at least 20,000 shares a day. This means that they can increase rapidly and therefore have quick rewards. These shares have barely fallen in the last couple years, rather they have had rising trends. However, stocks like this, when they do fall, tend to fall quite quickly and badly.
I have no idea what to do. I want to start soon and open a trading account online, if and when I decide to go through with the plan. Argh, this is just SO confusing. On the one hand, I really could benefit from this investment and thrive. On the other, I could loose money and not have enough to finish my education.
Hrmm. Darn Decisions.

Good Morning !
Ah, so Mother's Day went without a hitch. My mom quite enjoyed her present that I gave her, a collection of images from the 40's and 50's with funky affirmations on them. Her current favourite is the one that says "Why do I have to get married? I didn't do anything wrong".
I just got up about 30 minutes ago, so I'm just going to step into the shower and prepare for the day. I was so tantalized by the amazingness of the Grey's Anatomy episode last night, I could barely sleep afterwards. I'm upset that the season is almost at an end, but I also cannot wait for the end to the two part finale tonight ! I kind of suspect that Birk is going to die, I don't know why, but I suspect. Well, someone has to die, because of all the lives in the balance, it would be unrealistic and unlike Grey's Anatomy for them not to kill off one of the people. Speaking of dying, I almost cried when the restaurant manager was killed outside the hospital, usually dying doesn't affect me, but he had just had such a personality transformation from a jerk to a kind human being, what a travesty !
I have to run to UVic today and return a texbook, yay for my $105 refund ! I also need to start studying for a possible quiz tommorrow, argh. I know I have a quiz this week, I just don't know what day, which is very annoying.
I did some gardening yesterday, my backyard looks like its summer again, its all green and full of little seedlings with the hopes of being large beautiful herbs, vegetables and flowers ! Speaking of which, I planted tomatoes, and I'm not quite sure of their classification, are they a fruit or a vegetable ? just out of curiousity....
Well, that was a whole post about mostly nothing, I guess I just don't have much to say, anyways, ciao ya'lll !

F@cking Neighbours !
I had to work until midnight last night. Suffice to say that with showering time and resting time, I wasn't asleep until about 1:30am. At eight in the f@cking morning, my next door neighbour decided it would be a great idea to sit on the street and rev his motorcycle engine. He is a mechanic at the nearby airport, and he fixed bikes and cars on the side as a hobby. Every once in a while we have to put up with loud engine noises or the smell of some chemical paint. He changed out battery for us on the car when it died and he never charged us for anything except the battery itself, so he is a nice guy, but man am I pissed off. This is about the 15th time he has decided that it would be cool to rev the motorcycle at either 7 or 8am or sometimes as late as 10pm in the summer. Which is great when you have a nine year old brother who has school in the morning, and you that has a lecture at 8:30am. My mom has mentioned it to him a couple of times, but always in her sweet casual way, so I don't think the message really got across.
Well, it got across now ! So, I am woken up by this noise at 8am, my mom was already up and my brother somehow manages to sleep through it. I should mention that there is literally no more than about 4 meters between his shop and my second-floor room, because both of our houses go almost right up to te property line on this one side. Great planning ! Anyways, so I don't even wake up properly, I just put on my sweatpants, and a sweater, march outside in bare feet along the sidewalk while the neighbours across the way are watering their garden and point right at him. He stops the engine...
"hi, I was at work until midnight last night, so it would be great if I wasn't woken up by the sound of you and your stupid motorcycle at 8am ! Don't do it again."
Starting to walk away back home, and then he yells after me.
"Maybe I would if you were polite about it."
I turned around and just gave it to him with all the engery I could muster...
"OH, that is RICH coming from you. Well, If you had to endure your stupid engine reving at least 15 times this year, I would like to see how 'polite' you would be about it ! If you don't stop, I will call the police, and I know for a fact that you are breaking a town bylaw ."
I marched away got into bed and slept until just now when I woke up. If he does it again, I'm not even going to walk over there, I'm going to call the police, quote the bylaw number that he is breaking and tell them that he has been doing it repetitively for the last 2 years. If he wants polite, then he'll get polite. The war is on Biotch !

Money, Money, Moneeyy
So, the price of gold is skyrocketing. So are the profits of the firms excavating gold and those starting out. I have recently heard of a company through my coworker that is just opening its first mine in North Africa. It's a penny stock, barely worth over a dollar a share. I'm heading to my bank today to set up an online trading account, so I can purchase and sell shares online. Setting up the account is free, but I'm not sure I want to buy into this company. I have researched the business and it is legitimate, and the stock broker I talked to knew of them. I would normally not, but I have a large sum of money sitting in an account to pay for my schooling. It would be great if the money was earning more than its current 3% interest annually. I was thinking of investing a small amount, just to see what happens, and then make further investments based on that. The thing is, if I lose all the money I am royally screwed. But, if these shares keep on jumping as high as they are, then I could easily make a couple thousand, probably more. It's such a toss-up.
OH, fabulous news ! Not only am I currently dating a guy that is cute and sweet, but a new one has appeared. He had sent me an email about two weeks ago through Hi5, this website that connects you to your friends and then new people throught them. It turns out that his best girlfriend's best friend is related to one of my friends. Anyways, he emailed me and we chatted on messenger for a bit. He works just down the street from where I live, I'm going to just go into his work and check him out a little bit, you know, to scope out the goods... So, now I need to go and make myself pretty.
OH, and I called into work sick yesterday, which I felt bad about cause I think someone had to work overtime to cover me. Anyways, I woke up this morning with this horrible headache and a lot of sneezing. There was also dried blood on my two fingers and in my ear. No freaking idea how that happened ! I'm sure it was just that the skin of the ear got dry and cracked and bled, but just to be careful, I have a doctor's appointment on Monday.
Anyways, got to go and get ready to go and scope out the second man. Oh, dear, I sense this may end in drama.
You and me, we have an opportunity
And we could make it something really cool
But you, you think I'm not that kind of *boy*
I'm here to tell you baby, I know how to rock your world
Don't think that I'm not strong
I'm the one to take you on
Don't underestimate me boy
I'll make you sorry you were born
You don't know me
The way you really should
You sure misunderstood
Dont' call me baby
You got some nerve, and baby that'll never do
You know I don't belong to you
It's time you knew I'm not your baby
I belong to me, so
Don't call me baby
Behind my smile is my IQ
I must admit, this does not sit, with the likes of you
You're really sweet
Mmm, you're really nice
But didn't mama ever tell you not to play with fire?

Public Service Bulletin !
Ok, so since there has been quite a strong interest in the magical and quite mystical "undereye" serum that I had mentioned in the previous post, I thought I had better post this so everyone can know !
Firstly, for those of you who do not know, the product in question is called "Undereye Serum" by Clarins. It tightens and moisturizes the area directly beneath the eyes to make them look restored and beautiful. It also makes those damned baggy area and dark circles somewhat disappear. Though it does not remove them completely, it most certain works a miracle, and it takes only seconds to notice a difference !
Secondly, the product I used was part of the men's line. I imagine it makes no difference wether you are male or female using it. Just to be a good researcher though, I have found what I believe to be the comperable product in their female line of cosmetics.
Thirdly, the packaging I am showing you images of here is from their Canadian website, so though I doubt it, the individual packaging may look different in your country.
Ok, so here is the women's line. The item on the far right is what I believe to be the comparable product. The other two are part of their "eye reviving" line, and it may be of use to buy the set to save money. However, I would just recommend getting a sample of the stuff first.
This is the men's product, it is fabulous ! I don't know what else to say !

Self-Tanning

I am terribly sick of being confused as a ghost when I walk down the street. Seriously, the other day this elderly lady almost fainted because she saw an "apparition" appear and walk towards her. It's because I'm so white you can almost see through me, and it was totally her fault for standing in front of the salon doors like that, I had to look menacing to make her move !
Suffice to say, I am self-tanning today. I am not allowed to see the light of day for more than a couple minutes because of the Accutane™, so I can't go out and get tanned like I would normally be at this time of the year. It's really been hard on my self-esteem to go from being a tanned god one summer to a pasty apparition-confused man-o-white the next.
If I am to be a sun-neurotic vampire this summer, I might as well be a tanned one !
I am using a Neutrogena self-tanner. I had an amazing shower this morning with intense scrubbing and exfoliation action going on. The medication specifically says I should NOT exfoliate my face during it, and therefore I don't know if it's a good idea to try and use the stuff on my face, even though it says it is safe for "facial use". I am starting out by using it on my legs and a small spot on my tummy. Hoepfully, in a couple of hours, that will look good and I can use it on the rest of my body.
I can't believe I have the spare time to do stuff like this, it is awesome. I love being a hectic flying-by-the-seat-of-my-pants student one day to a self-tanning, home spa-ing, yoga-doing fashionista the next.
UPDATE:
The Neutrogena crap turned my legs orange. In a fit of rage I went to the SunMist™ tanning salon downtown. I paid a little bit of money more, but now I have a gorgeous fake tan that looks like I just got back from the Bahamas. It's amazing. I had to wear a loose linen shirt all day, and even though I am kinda sticky, I can't shower until 5pm. At which point it will have been 6 hours since I had it applied.
I have to work tonight at a "cleaning party", which is yet another stupid idea that the corporate heads at Starbucks make their minions do every once in a while. I am not suppose to exercise for at least 24 hours after having it applied, but since I am to clean tonight, I imagine that will involve sweating and "working out". I am honestly considering calling in sick. I would, but my Manager already hates my guts for being a student that can't work as much as she wants, so this might be a tipping point. Meh, f*ck them.
I dropped off resumes at two restaurants yesterday, both of which I know people at, and they would love to have me as a server there. I can't wait to show off my gorgeous tan at some interviews. I told the Co-op office I will be looking for an intership for September, and they told me that there are far fewer people looking this September than there was in the summer. My chances should be good, but that also means no school for about 8 months, I would feel soo guilty. It may be nice though, to have money in my account, and no debt over my head. Hrmm.
I love my tan, I look SO summery ! WOOt to me !

Apparently I'm a "Lush"
Today I was told by not one, but two friends, that I am a "lush". For those of you not familiar with the term, its a nice, rather fabulous version of an alcoholic.
Mind you, this was while I was trying to find my half-finished bottle of Kahlua that I keep in my desk at home for studying purposes, and then gave up and got my back-up bottle that is in my bedside table.
I also had about 6 drinks last night, and shared a bottle of champagne on the grounds of a very expensive, 5 star hotel here downtown. We later had to leave because someone called security because we were laughing and making a lot of noise. I also drank a lot Saturday night. I already blogged about that, so see previous post ! Well, we walked around a lot downtown with our happy little bottle of champagne. It was my friend's 20th birthday, so we might as well drink as our youth slips away.
I AM SOOO OLD ! GAWD.
Yeah, so I have this huge craving for Bailey's right now, which is overwhelming, its all I can think about. I am "babysitting" my 9 year-old brother right now, and its almost his bedtime. I think I am going to put him to bed and go and by some Bailey's to have with coffee tonight. I can also use the Bailey's to have with coffee during my haircut at the salon tommorrow at the ungodly hour of 8:45am. I love how all these plans come to fruition perfectly !
I am totally not a lush, I just enjoy life and have fun. I think there are PLENTY of people who drink more than I do. OOoo, I wonder how I should have my hair done. Post a comment on whether I should go really short or really long, I like extremes !
Ciao Y'all !

The Importance of Proof-Reading
Today is my friend's birthday. She is being dumb and doesn't want to do anything during the day today, but rather just wants to go out tonight, my other friend was suppose to hang out with us today, and go shopping, but instead she has to work. We had an entire day planned, and now its Kaput !
So, your probably asking yourself, "what does this have to do with proof reading ?". Well, glad you asked ! I was looking for golf courses today, because we figured we would just kidnapp her and make her golf with us. I haven't been golfing since I lived in Dubai, and most of my friends have never golfed. We decided that it would be fun to try and rent carts and go out golfing for the afternoon, and maybe sneek some alcohol into water bottles, ya know. Mmmm, vodka. I'm also totally wiped from last night. OH ! I forgot to mention last night. Wait, I have to end this story !
Anyways, so while I was looking for golf clubs, I noticed how badly proof-read some of their websites were, it was saddening. Things like "tiwlight instead of "twilight" and "feess", it was bad. Anywho, turns out Victoria has some of the best golfing in Canada, so we were excited. It also meant that we have some of the highest fees in Canada, GAWD! So, agreeing to not pay craploads to probably just make fools of ourselves, we are instead now just going out for coffee. Woot !
So, last night I had my last final exam, from 7pm - 10pm. WORST EXAM TIME EVER., especially on a Saturday night, and when I also had two exams that day, the other was at 9am. So I was effectively at school for more thatn 12 hours yesterday, on a SATURDAY !
I just wanted to go home and cry after the exam. Nichole, who was also in the last exam was quite adament that we go out to this rather large local pub with a dance floor and get soo drunk that we forget the exam. Suffice to say my friend convinced me to go out and get hammered, which I then proceded to do. I also made out quite a lot with the new boy, more updates on that later. He has the hottest hair ever, EVER !
Today my head hurts. I started with a beer, then vokda, then rum, and finally,.... shots of tequila ! I always end up doing shots of tequila. I think they are all fighting in my tummy right now. I imagine that either vodka or tequila are winning. Tequila is small, short, and most likely Mexican, so she has probably got some attitude and is fiesty. She is small though, so she may have to use her strong vocal skills to win a verbal rather than physical battle. Vodka is awesome, he is this GIGANTIC Russian, or maybe Pole, who can kick some serious ass. He's built to rediculous porportions, but he's not really hot, more of a hard-charm sorta look. He is all serious, but once he has been drinking (which they have been in my stomach, I can tell) he is a huge ball of fun. I would just never want to be on his bad side. Therefore, I deduce that Vodka would win.
How on earth did I get onto that train of thought ? These, and more questions, answered on the next episode of "The Adventures of Matt the broke UVic-dom" !!
Dah, DAh DUUMMMMmmmm.

SOoOoo close...
I have two finals on Saturday. EW. I am starting to study for them today, which is late, but work has been unforgiving. Apparently, they don't give a rats ass that I'm a student. I was suppose to work 30 hours this week, I'm not. It's a long story though, and I'd rather not talk about it now.
I need to study, I will be so excited when these exams are done. I will be finally finished.
WOOT !
Well, finished for a semester.
I have found the perfect replacement sunglasses for my Versaces that I lost. They are Prada, and they are fabulous. Sunglass Hut wants to sell them to me for $370.00, but I know better. I found the EXACT same pair on eBAy, and I want them. I can get them off eBay for about $215.00 plus about $18 in shipping. The seller is in Brooklyn, and what do you wanna bet that they are stolen goods. hehe, I honestly don't care. I want them. Hrm, I believe I will find a picure of them and post it here, just to show you how fabulous they are:
They fit my head perfectly, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy them today. Gawd, I want them. As you may or may not be aware of, I am a broke University student. But, I have a fabulously expensive sense of style. I have set up a memorial fund, in memory of my Versace sunglasses, and are taking donations. The monies will be well-used towards personal fashionable charity causes, such as the purchase of these new unglasses. I can accept both personal cheques and cash, but not credit card or money order. Please email me [mkbowyer@gmail.com] to get my mailing address. Thank you. (I'm totally not joking here)
In related news, I need to study, so I'm off to go and do that right now. I think I'll study in bed all say, since it's raining. Wish me luck !

Great Day

I'm gonna have a great day. I woke up today and got going right away. I've been having a really hard time getting out of bed and up in the mornings, and its been eating away at my general overall productivity. I'm listening to Len ~ "Steal my Sunshine". I heart this song, hehe, I also heart butter tarts. If you have never had a butter tart, I insist you go out and buy a dozen or two this weekend, and enjoy them !
I've been turned down by my last possible Co-op employer, and I'm not going to apply for any more. I've decided to take the summer slow. I'm going to just work or go to school. I'm not sure which one I'm going to end up doing, but I have an overall plan. My plan of action that springs into effect on Monday. Speaking of which, I have a Stats final on Monday. I had better go study. Thats what I'm doing this weekend, I have a date with the big comfy chair and my desk.
I lost my Versace sunglasses this week. Suffice to say I am upset. This song is dedicated to their memory, may they be happy and content in the afterlife. I hope whomever stole them is treating them the way they deserve.
the city feels clean this time of night just empty streets
and me walking home to clear my head
i know it came as no surprise
i'm affected more than i had guessed on what was said
if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open
if we make it i won't see it's broken
if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open
if we make it i won't see how it's broken
it's the quiet time before the dawn and i'm half past making sense of it, was i wrong?
should i claim to give it all ** in a world where not much ever seems to last long
if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open
if we make it i won't see it's broken if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open if we make it i won't
see how it's broken
how it's broken (3x)
(repeats) if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open
if we make it i won't see it's broken
if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open
if we make it i won't see how it's broken
how it's broken (repeats)

Vancouver !
Ah, So the weekend was loads of fun. We had dinner on friday night in Surrey, as I was staying with a coworker who's family lived in Surrey. Not the ghetto part, but the nice part that had large woody areas and safe neighbourhoods. We started Saturday at 9am with a trip to Spa Utopia, the most wonderful spa in the world. You enter the island oasis and dress in your robe and sandals, adn then lounge I lounged in the steamroom for many a minute. Then I rested in the waiting area for my spa person, there were dried fruits, fresh fruits, wine, juices and cheese. Soooo wonderfully relaxing. I had a pedicure with Ally (the woman who we went with) and enjoyed my white wine and orange juice at 9am. Later we went to White Rock for lunch at a restaurant called "Charlie Don't Surf", which was good. I got a little tipsy from there particularly strong long island ice teas, but then I don't particularly like shopping sober anyways. Speaking of which, I purchased some rather butt-fabulous Guess jeans from the outlet mall we went to in Langley. It was wonderful, the Mexx outlet was wonderful too, and I am a proud owner of way too many tees and sirts from there now. We went to Krispy Kreme donuts in Surrey, and ate way too many. Andrea and I shared a box of a dozen, soo much happiness ! The day was amazing, the night not so much, we went to a country bar, enough said. I dislike country with a fairly strong passion (except Shania).
Sunday was good too, we did some shopping in Surrey, and then caught the ferry home. All in all a wonderful relaxing weekend. Just what the doctor ordered.
P.S. My camera has died, so I will need to recharge it before I upload the pics from it, and post them here. There are some fabulous ones.
