The Importance of Proof-Reading

Today is my friend's birthday. She is being dumb and doesn't want to do anything during the day today, but rather just wants to go out tonight, my other friend was suppose to hang out with us today, and go shopping, but instead she has to work. We had an entire day planned, and now its Kaput !

So, your probably asking yourself, "what does this have to do with proof reading ?". Well, glad you asked ! I was looking for golf courses today, because we figured we would just kidnapp her and make her golf with us. I haven't been golfing since I lived in Dubai, and most of my friends have never golfed. We decided that it would be fun to try and rent carts and go out golfing for the afternoon, and maybe sneek some alcohol into water bottles, ya know. Mmmm, vodka. I'm also totally wiped from last night. OH ! I forgot to mention last night. Wait, I have to end this story !

Anyways, so while I was looking for golf clubs, I noticed how badly proof-read some of their websites were, it was saddening. Things like "tiwlight instead of "twilight" and "feess", it was bad. Anywho, turns out Victoria has some of the best golfing in Canada, so we were excited. It also meant that we have some of the highest fees in Canada, GAWD! So, agreeing to not pay craploads to probably just make fools of ourselves, we are instead now just going out for coffee. Woot !

So, last night I had my last final exam, from 7pm - 10pm. WORST EXAM TIME EVER., especially on a Saturday night, and when I also had two exams that day, the other was at 9am. So I was effectively at school for more thatn 12 hours yesterday, on a SATURDAY !

I just wanted to go home and cry after the exam. Nichole, who was also in the last exam was quite adament that we go out to this rather large local pub with a dance floor and get soo drunk that we forget the exam. Suffice to say my friend convinced me to go out and get hammered, which I then proceded to do. I also made out quite a lot with the new boy, more updates on that later. He has the hottest hair ever, EVER !

Today my head hurts. I started with a beer, then vokda, then rum, and finally,.... shots of tequila ! I always end up doing shots of tequila. I think they are all fighting in my tummy right now. I imagine that either vodka or tequila are winning. Tequila is small, short, and most likely Mexican, so she has probably got some attitude and is fiesty. She is small though, so she may have to use her strong vocal skills to win a verbal rather than physical battle. Vodka is awesome, he is this GIGANTIC Russian, or maybe Pole, who can kick some serious ass. He's built to rediculous porportions, but he's not really hot, more of a hard-charm sorta look. He is all serious, but once he has been drinking (which they have been in my stomach, I can tell) he is a huge ball of fun. I would just never want to be on his bad side. Therefore, I deduce that Vodka would win.

How on earth did I get onto that train of thought ? These, and more questions, answered on the next episode of "The Adventures of Matt the broke UVic-dom" !!

Dah, DAh DUUMMMMmmmm.

SOoOoo close...

I have two finals on Saturday. EW. I am starting to study for them today, which is late, but work has been unforgiving. Apparently, they don't give a rats ass that I'm a student. I was suppose to work 30 hours this week, I'm not. It's a long story though, and I'd rather not talk about it now.

I need to study, I will be so excited when these exams are done. I will be finally finished.
WOOT !

Well, finished for a semester.

I have found the perfect replacement sunglasses for my Versaces that I lost. They are Prada, and they are fabulous. Sunglass Hut wants to sell them to me for $370.00, but I know better. I found the EXACT same pair on eBAy, and I want them. I can get them off eBay for about $215.00 plus about $18 in shipping. The seller is in Brooklyn, and what do you wanna bet that they are stolen goods. hehe, I honestly don't care. I want them. Hrm, I believe I will find a picure of them and post it here, just to show you how fabulous they are:

They fit my head perfectly, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy them today. Gawd, I want them. As you may or may not be aware of, I am a broke University student. But, I have a fabulously expensive sense of style. I have set up a memorial fund, in memory of my Versace sunglasses, and are taking donations. The monies will be well-used towards personal fashionable charity causes, such as the purchase of these new unglasses. I can accept both personal cheques and cash, but not credit card or money order. Please email me [mkbowyer@gmail.com] to get my mailing address. Thank you. (I'm totally not joking here)

In related news, I need to study, so I'm off to go and do that right now. I think I'll study in bed all say, since it's raining. Wish me luck !

Great Day

I'm gonna have a great day. I woke up today and got going right away. I've been having a really hard time getting out of bed and up in the mornings, and its been eating away at my general overall productivity. I'm listening to Len ~ "Steal my Sunshine". I heart this song, hehe, I also heart butter tarts. If you have never had a butter tart, I insist you go out and buy a dozen or two this weekend, and enjoy them !
I've been turned down by my last possible Co-op employer, and I'm not going to apply for any more. I've decided to take the summer slow. I'm going to just work or go to school. I'm not sure which one I'm going to end up doing, but I have an overall plan. My plan of action that springs into effect on Monday. Speaking of which, I have a Stats final on Monday. I had better go study. Thats what I'm doing this weekend, I have a date with the big comfy chair and my desk.

I lost my Versace sunglasses this week. Suffice to say I am upset. This song is dedicated to their memory, may they be happy and content in the afterlife. I hope whomever stole them is treating them the way they deserve.

Empty Streets ~ Late Night Alumni

the city feels clean this time of night just empty streets

and me walking home to clear my head

i know it came as no surprise

i'm affected more than i had guessed on what was said

if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open

if we make it i won't see it's broken

if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open

if we make it i won't see how it's broken

it's the quiet time before the dawn and i'm half past making sense of it, was i wrong?

should i claim to give it all ** in a world where not much ever seems to last long

if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open

if we make it i won't see it's broken if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open if we make it i won't

see how it's broken
how it's broken (3x)
(repeats) if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open

if we make it i won't see it's broken

if the smile's not meant to be, if the heart's not ready to open

if we make it i won't see how it's broken
how it's broken (repeats)

Vancouver !

Ah, So the weekend was loads of fun. We had dinner on friday night in Surrey, as I was staying with a coworker who's family lived in Surrey. Not the ghetto part, but the nice part that had large woody areas and safe neighbourhoods. We started Saturday at 9am with a trip to Spa Utopia, the most wonderful spa in the world. You enter the island oasis and dress in your robe and sandals, adn then lounge I lounged in the steamroom for many a minute. Then I rested in the waiting area for my spa person, there were dried fruits, fresh fruits, wine, juices and cheese. Soooo wonderfully relaxing. I had a pedicure with Ally (the woman who we went with) and enjoyed my white wine and orange juice at 9am. Later we went to White Rock for lunch at a restaurant called "Charlie Don't Surf", which was good. I got a little tipsy from there particularly strong long island ice teas, but then I don't particularly like shopping sober anyways. Speaking of which, I purchased some rather butt-fabulous Guess jeans from the outlet mall we went to in Langley. It was wonderful, the Mexx outlet was wonderful too, and I am a proud owner of way too many tees and sirts from there now. We went to Krispy Kreme donuts in Surrey, and ate way too many. Andrea and I shared a box of a dozen, soo much happiness ! The day was amazing, the night not so much, we went to a country bar, enough said. I dislike country with a fairly strong passion (except Shania).

Sunday was good too, we did some shopping in Surrey, and then caught the ferry home. All in all a wonderful relaxing weekend. Just what the doctor ordered.

P.S. My camera has died, so I will need to recharge it before I upload the pics from it, and post them here. There are some fabulous ones.

The Weekend is here !

I'm going to Vaaaancouvver ! Thank God it's the weekend !

I'll most likely have some stories to share when I come back. Till then, Ta Ta ! Also, Everyone should download this song, its my theme song:

I'm shakin' - up my plan
And I get by

I'm savin' all my soul
And all my pain
So I can lose control
On Sa-turday
I'm gonna' blow it all away

I can't wait for the weekend to begin
I can't wait for the weekend to begin

(Breakdown)

I can't wait for the weekend to begin
For the weekend to begin
Begin (x13)

I can't wait for the weekend to begin

I got to get my fix
And fly tonight
And when the clock strikes 6
On Fri-day night
I'm gonna' blow it all away

I can't wait for the weekend to begin
I can' I can'
I can't wait for the weekend to begin
I can' I can't
I can't wait for the weekend to begin

Balancing Act

OH MY GOOD SWEET MERCIFUL ZOMBIE JEBUS !

Ok, here's the delio. Not only did I accept a Co-op position yesterday, but today I had TWO requests for an interview with Government jobs. I have accepted both and have a computerized skill test tommorrow for one and aninterview for one on next Wednesday.

It's overwhelming. I had originally agreed to start work at the one I accepted yesterday next week, which I am now biting myself for doing. I would much rather work at these Ministry jobs because they are better paid and more related to my degree ($17.96 an hour vs. $12 an hour). I have now emailed them and told the President, whom I know, that I won't be able to start until May 1st, hopefully buying me some time to see what happens with these other two jobs.

My current employer, Starbucks, just literally called while I was writing this blog, and asked me to remain on as a Supervisor, just working on the weekends, until the end of May. They would appreciate it, because they are already understaffed before I left, and are even moreso now. I have tentitively agreed, but told them that it may change.

The interview/test that I have tommorrow is two hours of multi-tasking testing and typing testing that I have to go through. I really want that job and hope that it all works out.

I never knew that being such a hot labour commodity was such a huge amount of work ! What a balancing act ! But it sure is fun
:D

Wow, I'm smart.

I'm brilliant really, and totally modest. What a perfect package ?

No more mood swings for me, I have finally landed a Co-op work term with Gateway File Systems. Unfortunately, due to the nature of a lot of the work I will be doing there, I cannot talk about it until the launch of their new product in May/June. I can say its mostly marketing, design, and training, which I love.

It is a gorgeous, sunny 12 degrees celcius here (for those of you who use Imperial, change, the rest of the world has!) and I cannot wait to go get a pedicure in Vancouver next weekend. Some friends of mine from work are coming. It's an "April-birthday only" event, all three of us have birthdays within 10 days of one another. We'll be spa-ing and shopping till we drop.

I got a weird call from a guy I dated more than a year ago yesterday too. He is one of those people that you like, but kinda gives you an odd vibe, and you don't know why. I'm pretty sure that all he is interested in is sex, which isn't gonna happen, cause I've sworn off men until I am done my degree. I just don't have time for the dating and the constant drain on my bank account that is a significant other. It's a financial decision really, dating wastes money. Well, at least for now that's my motto.

I'm going to "try" and do an assignment today, and then go with my mom to the Chiropractor and to lunch. We'll see if the assignment even gets started. It's just so damn hard to focus when all I wanna do is go and tan. Oh, right, I can't tan with the stupid medication I'm on, it's quite rediculous.

Yes, my summer plans have all fallen into place perfectly. I'm going to start subscibing again to Wallpaper, I used to get them all the time, then I stopped. I need, now more than ever, to start immersing myself in the world of fashion, architecture, design, and travel again.

Though I'm really more of a Versace sort of boy, I simply adore this Gucci ad. I'm mentally prepared for the shopping at Ferragamo, Armani Exchange, and Zara.

Burn This City !

I'm totally out of control ! It's taken me all day to finally wake up, ever have one of those days ? I woke up slowly, went with my Aunt who is visiting from rural Saskatchewan (prairies) to her salon make-over appointment. So much fun. We just had tea and coffee with cake and crumpets as per our family's Sunday tradition. Gotta love the Brits ! Anyways, my Uncle was present at this event, the Uncle whom I have no spoken to in months, because of a huge family feud. I am still very mad at him, but we hugged and kinda made up. It was a healthy start. My two Aunts are still here, we're all having dinner soon. So, finally at late evening, I feel totally energized and AWAKE. I feel like I could take on the entire world ! I am starting my math assignment that is due tommorrow and I am gonna rock it ! I am soo happy to just be me in this moment. I'm jetting off to Vancouver for a shopping/salon/spa three day trip next weekend, and I just want to work my ass off until then ! My life rocks, and I'm gonna rock it good ! LOOK OUT WORLD !

Eyes
Burning a way to me
Eyes
Destroying so sweetly
Now
There is a fire in me
A fire that burns

This fire is out of control
I'm going to burn this city
Burn this city
This this fire is out of control
I'm gonna burn this city
Burn this city

This fire is out of control
This fire is out of control
This fire is out of control
and I burn

Eyes
Boring a way through me
Paralyse
Controlling completely
Now
There is a fire in me
A fire that burns

This fire is out of control
I'm going to burn this city
Burn this city
This fire is out of control
I'm going to burn this city
Burn this city

If this fire is out of control
Then I
I'm out of control and I burn
Oh how i burn for you
Burn, oh how I burn for you
burn
how I burn
how I burn
oh how I

This fire is out of control
I'm gonna burn this city
Burn this city
This fire is out of control
I'm gonna burn this city
Burn this city
This fire is out of control
I'm gonna burn this city
Burn this city
This fire is out of control
I burn
I burn
I burn
I burn

It's not so bad....

Today just seems like the sort of day that will result in many a memborable quote. So far today I have two: (it's just morning still)

  1. "I can't tell you over the phone, I need my hands to explain."
  2. "Sure, if you would just step inside my closet."

UPDATE:
Today was a day. I came into work and there was a puddle the size of half the store behind the counter and in the backroom. It turns out, after much research, that the pipe leading out of our store's grease trap was clogged. The place smelled awesome (your sarcasm detector should be beeping). We closed the store for two hours, while the repairmen cleaned out the grease trap, and repaired the leak. It was rediculous.

I stumbled upon this article while trying to find a picture for today. My life is not that bad, comparitively. Articles like this put it all into perspective. They also make me cry. What a great example of the "religion of peace" that Islam claims to be. Then people ask me why I say 'I think religion just interferes in true spirituality'. Sigh, what a world.
